Government Says Attack Won't Stop Negotiations
(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert charged that the murderous terrorist attack on a Jerusalem yeshiva Thursday night "shows that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is not fighting terror enough," but his government will not stop negotiations with the PA for a new Arab state within the current borders of Israel. The Prime Minister's aides said there is a direct connection between sources of terror in Gaza and those in Judea and Samaria.
However, Foreign Ministry spokesman Aryeh Mekel declared, "These terrorists are trying to destroy the chances of peace, but we certainly will continue the peace talks," Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas also condemned the attack, adding that he denounces all attacks that target civilians, whether Arabs or Israelis. The statement was made in Abbas by Saed Erekat, a senior PA negotiator.
Hamas praised the murders. "We bless the [Jerusalem] operation. It will not be the last," Hamas said in a statement.
