No Surprise, I'm in The Minority or Today's News is Like the Purim Story

According to the Jerusalem Post, a recent poll shows that most Israelis are in favor of a referendum before giving Arabs our Land. I'm against it. I want a law that would protect us from fickle and foolish politicians and leaders.
A majority of the Jewish public supports the three key pieces of legislation that passed last week in the Knesset, according to a Gal Hadash poll published over the weekend in Israel Hayom.
The public backed the electoral reform package that raised the electoral threshold to 3.25 percent, the haredi (ultra-Orthodox) conscription bill, and the referendum legislation, the survey of 500 respondents representing a statistical sample of the Jewish population found.
The most popular of the three was the referendum bill, which would require asking the public before signing a deal to give up land inside pre-1967 Israel or land to which Israeli law has been applied since then. The bill is supported by 70.7% of the population and only 17% oppose it. The percentage saying they did not know was 12.3%.* (emphasis mine)
Sixty-one percent support the conscription bill, while 22.9% oppose it and 16.1% did not know.
When asked whether they supported raising the electoral threshold from 2% to 3.25%, 55.6% answered affirmatively, 15.5% said no and 28.9% did not know.
All these polls and referendum talks remind me of an early part of the Purim Megilla, aka Megillat (Scroll of) Esther in which King Achashveros asks his advisers what to do when his Queen Vashti refuses to appear at his whim, beck and call.
יב  וַתְּמָאֵן הַמַּלְכָּה וַשְׁתִּי, לָבוֹא בִּדְבַר הַמֶּלֶךְ, אֲשֶׁר, בְּיַד הַסָּרִיסִים; וַיִּקְצֹף הַמֶּלֶךְ מְאֹד, וַחֲמָתוֹ בָּעֲרָה בוֹ.  {ס}
12 But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by the chamberlains; therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him. {S}
13 Then the king said to the wise men, who knew the times--for so was the king's manner toward all that knew law and judgment;
14 and the next unto him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king's face, and sat the first in the kingdom:
טו  כְּדָת, מַה-לַּעֲשׂוֹת, בַּמַּלְכָּה, וַשְׁתִּי--עַל אֲשֶׁר לֹא-עָשְׂתָה, אֶת-מַאֲמַר הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ, בְּיַד, הַסָּרִיסִים.  {ס}
15 'What shall we do unto the queen Vashti according to law, forasmuch as she hath not done the bidding of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?' {S}
16 And Memucan answered before the king and the princes: 'Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the peoples, that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
17 For this deed of the queen will come abroad unto all women, to make their husbands contemptible in their eyes, when it will be said: The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
18 And this day will the princesses of Persia and Media who have heard of the deed of the queen say the like unto all the king's princes. So will there arise enough contempt and wrath.
19 If it please the king, let there go forth a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, that Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus, and that the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.
20 And when the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his kingdom, great though it be, all the wives will give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.'
21 And the word pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan;
He follows their instructions to the letter and then realizes that he is queenless so has to find a replacement. That's how Esther came into the picture.

That same King Achashverosh also gave his full authority to Haman to facilitate the Holocaust murder of all the Jewish People, from babies to the elderly. When Achashverosh realized that would put his Queen Esther in danger he didn't even have the authority to cancel the edict, so he had to give the Jewish People via Mordechai the authority to fight Haman's soldiers.

A king/ruler/government should have principles and take the lead. Rulers who are constantly polling their subjects are no wiser than King Achashverosh.

Latma on The Referedum and More

I hope that this isn't the last Tribal Update.  A couple of months ago, there was talk that Caroline Glick was having trouble finding funds to continue Latma.  In the beginning of this week's broadcast they announce a two week break from producing new shows, which actually they do periodically.  I hope that Latma will really resume broadcasts.

Flock Builder explains how to conduct the National Referendum on Israel's future and computer expert Geek Bizarre presents a computerized simulation of the anticipated rounds of peace talks.
I've been a Latma fan from the beginning. We need Latma.
Latma is funded by donations from private individuals who believe that the voice of Zionism must be heard, loud and clear, in Israel and throughout the world. We need your help in order to stay open and continue sounding our voices.
If you are in the United States, Latma is  funded by donations to the David Horowitz Freedom Center's Israel Security Project which I direct. If you would like to contribute to our work, which is funded entirely by viewer contributions, please go to this link.
For donations outside the US, here is a link to the donations page for our Israeli non-profit, the Zionist Incubator. You can make credit card donations to Latma by contributing to our non-profit.

No, NO, NO!!! No Giving Away Our Land and No Referendum!!!

I am totally, that's 100% against any referendum about giving away our precious Holy Land.  Giving the Arabs more land shouldn't be an option.  Anyone in favor of a referendum is in favor of giving up Land.  And I'm against giving up Land to anyone, anyone at all.

The latest popular trial balloon many Israeli politicians have tried recently is the "referendum" option.  The government obviously has no principles, no ideals and no concept of who and what we Jewish People really are.  These government officials, the Prime Minister, his coalition, cabinet and too many of the MKs, Knesset Members aren't leaders.  They are followers.  They'll do and say anything to stay in office and increase their power.  But in actuality they aren't using their power in a positive way.  They aren't leading us to make the State of Israel better and stronger.

These politicians have no real Vision. Vision, or חזון Chazone, is best translated as idealism. The ideal/utopia these politicians dream of isn't a Jewish one.  They want to be accepted by the nations of the world, but that isn't what makes the Jewish People/State a light for all nations, the Jewish term they like to bandy about when trying to add some Jewish content to their pronouncements/policies/trial "balloons."

Unfortunately, our politicians and media and academics are willing to do anything to get the world's approval.  Nothing much has changed since this Dry Bones:

Pressuring Israel (1978)
Today's cartoon is 32 years old. I drew it in 1978. The latest news (at the time of this writing) is a trial balloon rumor of what America will "give" us if our Prime minister will bow to their demands.
What is offered (and was offered in 1978) is "continued support" if we will do as we're told! The clear message to the enemies of the West then, and now, is that American support of Israel is conditional. A message which is welcome news to the Arab, Turkish, and Iranian regimes which refuse to accept the UN's 1947 call for a Jewish State in Palestine.

The more we grovel, AKA offer concessions, the more pressure we'll be under.  And the PR campaign to convince the Israeli public, the voters, the citizens to approve giving Arab terrorists our precious Land will be the most professional, scientific, distorted, filled with lies and tricks of any marketing campaign in the history of the world.

Israelis, your ordinary Israeli will think he/she has no choice or we'll be wiped off the map.  And if we G-d forbid do the referendum and then give the Arab terrorists our Land, we will be wiped off the map again.  How long will it then take for us to return? That I don't know, but this Modern State of Israel is built on the history of thousands of years.  For two thousand years, the Land of Israel had a scattering of Jews and no other nation or people ruled here as an independent country.   That's right.  THERE NEVER WAS A "PALAESTINIAN" STATE OR NATION.  The lie that we took over their country/land is an outrageous lie that has taken on the semblance of truth, because people keep on repeating it.

Those who want us destroyed are working hard to sway Israeli public opinion, including our politicians that our only chance for peace is to endanger ourselves and do what no other nation would ever be willing to do. That is to give our Land to the enemy that has sworn to destroy us.

Pure Racism is Arab Terrorism Against Jews and All Other Forms of Antisemitism

Evyatar Borovsky, 31, was laid to rest Tuesday evening, Arutz 7

Another innocent Jew was murdered today by an Arab terrorist.  Nu, is the world up in arms against those Arabs?  No, I haven't heard anything.
  • I just checked CNN, nada, nothing
  • BBC did mention the terror attack but also made a point of mentioning that "nine Palestinians have been killed in various incidents with Israeli forces in the West Bank since the start of this year," and the victim lived in a "settlement." And "settlements are considered illegal under international law..."
  • Nothing about the terror attack in The New York Times, but it did have this headline, Israeli Airstrike in Gaza Kills 1 Palestinian, and it also mentioned the Israeli President Shimon Peres met with the new Pope and asked him to help the so called "peace" sic process.
I'm dreading to hear what gifts and promises Peres make to the Pope.  The Vatican has been angling for parts of Mount Zion, which we shouldn't give away. The Vatican already owns/controls too much land here, and there is no reason for the Israeli Government to evict The Diaspora Yeshiva which has been there for over forty years.

I'm also disgusted with the fact that Tsipi Livni has been entrusted with negotiations with our enemies.  Read Ruthie Blum's latest Israel Hayom article about that.

And I don't like the fact that NRP-Bayit Yehudi's Naftali Bennett is promoting a referendum on whatever agreement Tsipi wants to sign. I don't want any negotiations at all.  There's nothing to negotiate.

This morning's terror attack, like all of the Arab terror attacks against Jews, is an act of violent racism, pure and simple. There is no other way to describe it.  Killing a person just because of his religion/nationality is a form of racism for sure, and I honestly don't understand why people ignore that simple fact.  So, all those Leftists aka Liberals should be against Arab terror attacks which target Jews.
