Looks Like Theresa May Miscalculated

Too bad that she didn't consult with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who is suffering from a similar mistake.
CONSERVATIVES LEAD, BUT LABOUR GAINS BIG IN BRITISH ELECTION
UK election hangs in balance in disastrous night for PM May
An updated forecast from the BBC released early Friday morning said that the Conservatives would win 322 seats, four shy of the the 326 threshold needed to form a majority.
The updated forecasts gave the Labour party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, 261 seats.
Exit polls released shortly after polls were closed gave the Conservatives 314 seats, with the Labour party winning 266. The Liberal Democrats won 14 seats in those polls, while the UKIP did not win any. (Arutz 7)
May's Conservatives have a plurality, not the necessary majority needed and requested to run the difficult task of disengaging from the European Union.

Does this mean a coalition government for Great Britain?

Europe's Rapidly Changing Demographics, Brexit...

As usual, Dry Bones, hit the nail on the head perfectly.

Know Your Islamophobes

The full story:
BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's interior minister has warned that the country is home to more than 500 Islamic militants who could be capable of carrying out assaults on their own or as members of "hit teams." Speaking in an interview with Bild newspaper, Thomas de Maiziere said there were currently at least 520 "potential attackers" in the country, which has been on edge since two Islamic State-inspired attacks in July. He said another 360 "relevant" people were known to police because of their close proximity to the potential attackers.
Many Germans fear that fighters belonging to the Islamic State jihadist group could have slipped into Germany with the roughly one million of refugees from Syria, North Africa and Asia who arrived last year. "The terror threat now stems from foreign hit teams as well as fanatical lone wolves in Germany," de Maiziere said in the interview ahead of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the United States, which were partly coordinated from Germany."The hit teams are secretly smuggled into Europe and prepare their actions without being noticed, as we saw with the attacks in Paris and Brussels," he added. "But it's even more difficult to uncover the fanatical lone wolves. Unfortunately, there is a real and present danger from both threats."
He said security authorities were doing everything possible to monitor "the potential terrorists" and noted that there have been more investigations and arrests this year. Despite their efforts, he said, "the authorities are assuming there are undiscovered lone wolf terrorists out there."

Germany had until July been spared the kind of militant attacks suffered by neighboring France and Belgium. But in late July, Islamic State claimed two attacks -- on a train near Wuerzburg and at a music festival in Ansbach -- in which asylum-seekers wounded 20 people in total. The anti-immigrant party Alternative for Germany (AfD) has seized on the attacks to criticize Chancellor Angela Merkel's migrant policies.
A friend's grandchildren had been attending British local/neighborhood schools and reported that unlike when she was growing up, the classroom demographics was far from the white Anglican, with a smattering of Jews. Britain, which has been absorbing all sorts of immigrants/newcomers from the Commonwealth and all sorts of migrants from the European Union and refugees from all over during the past half century, is extremely different from what it had been. Today's classes are a total mix of religions a cultures, multiculturalism.

Traditionally Great Britain has felt itself protected by the English Channel, but modern laws, treaties and transportation had taken down that barrier. And the British had kept its own currency, even during the honeymoon years of its membership in the EU, like a married couple, keeping the bachelor pads. No doubt that the recent terror attacks in France and Belgium, and the reports of rapes etc. in areas full of refugees, have convinced the British to divorce Europe.

Is this racism or pragmatism? What do you think?

Will Brexit and Theresa May make for Better Britain-Israel Relations?

Here in Israel, there are those who say that one of the reasons that some British voted for Brexit was the EU's extreme anti-Israel policies including the fact that it sponsors all sorts of pro-Palestine activities and NGOs which work very blatantly not only against Israel but supporting the Arab terrorists. That is what the pro-Brexit crowd meant by saying that they were interested in economic ties but not in the politics.

The Jerusalem Post has a very optimistic article about Great Britain's new incoming Prime Minister, Theresa May. Here's for hoping that they are right about her, although if their optimism is only based on a speech she gave two years ago when visiting, I'm more a pessimist. As regular readers of this blog know very well, I do not take such speeches very seriously. They are no more true than film scripts.

Theresa May, a ‘long-standing friend of Israel’

The parliamentary chairman of the Conservative Friends of Israel issued a statement saying that “Israel can rest assured that a UK led by Theresa May will be there in its moments of need."
...May, according to former ambassador to London Daniel Taub, “has been a long-standing friend of Israel and the Jewish community.” He said that as home secretary, May was very supportive of “our efforts to deepen British- Israel ties in the area of homeland security, and also very receptive to the concerns of the Jewish community regarding anti-Semitism and violent extremism.” Her ministry was responsible for Britain’s MI5 intelligence service, and as such was both aware and appreciative of the close intelligence and security cooperation between the two countries.
...May’s only visit to Israel was in the summer 2014, when the bodies of the three kidnapped youth from Gush Etzion were discovered. In a speech in September of that year to the Conservative Friends of Israel, she discussed that trip, and that speech provides a glimpse of her outlook on Israel.
“The murder of those boys – and the loss of life among Israelis and Palestinians in the subsequent military operations in Gaza – is a sad reminder that the Arab/Israeli conflict is not just an abstract debate argued over the pages of Western newspapers and television screens,” she said.

Since Obama & Soros Opposed Brexit, Must be Good!

thecommentator

As the international LEFTIST media, politicians and policymakers have been racking their brains trying to comprehend how what they had considered impossible actually, surprisingly happened-- the victory of Brexit... They are now finally beginning to discover that it, davka, was the anti-Brexit campaign that created the crucial tipping point, which caused people to vote yes.

All of the threats and doomsday predictions, especially the interference by people like United States President Barack Hussein Obama just strengthened the feelings of ordinary Brits that staying in the European Union would further weaken their national sovereignty. George Soros's unpopularity with many also served to convince people to vote for the bill.

Many pro-Brexit voters admitted to the media that they had actually been on the fence until they actually voted, and the point that pushed them into voting to leave was the campaign to stay. This is proof of how totally disengaged politicians, the media and policy makers are to the feelings and fears of ordinary people. In the United States it can easily be seen in the rise and popularity of Donald Trump. All the anti-Trump campaigns has succeeded in doing is to make him more popular with ordinary Americans.

Remember the "Silent Majority?" Well, obviously those in power don't.

Great Britain Reverts to its Island Isolation

From the news reports, it looks like Great Britain is actually going to leave the European Union.

'Leave' scents victory as EU vote divides Britain
With results declared from 206 of 382 voting districts plus parts of Northern Ireland, Leave was ahead by 51.3 percent to 48.7 in the referendum, in which a vote to break with Europe could usher in deep uncertainty over trade and investment and fuel the rise of anti-EU movements across the continent.
Initial results suggested those in favor of quitting the EU were outperforming pollsters' expectations. They scored close to 70 percent of the vote in Hartlepool in northeast England and in Basildon, near London.
It was not clear whether an expected pro-EU vote in the capital and across Scotland would be sufficient to redress the balance. In the London district of Haringey, 76 percent voted to remain. (Reuters)

I'm not really surprised. Great Britain is an island off of Europe and always treasured its independence. That is what saved it from invasions, such as the Nazis less than a century ago. Also, in terms of the demography, cultural/ethnic politics in Britain, this is probably the last chance to get a majority to leave. As in Europe, the open borders have enabled a cultural diversity unprecedented in most of Europe and Great Britain for sure.

Don't forget that the European Union is much larger and more diversified than most people had ever expected it to be. For those who mourn the relatively monochromatic Christian Britain and Europe, they find themselves living in a nightmare, like a Twilight Zone episode.

The vote seems pretty close, so it could change directions, and then Great Britain will remain in the EU, and it will then find itself a totally different country in another couple of decades. And if it leaves, the transformation will just take a bit longer...
