Israel's South Suffers Barrage of Arab Terror, International Media Sympathizes With Terrorists

If you're dependent on the international media for information about news here in Israel, you'd think that Israel has been attacking innocent "Gandhi style" demonstrators of all ages from Gaza. You'd never know that Gaza has been launching dangerous missiles and fire-causing weapons at Israel.

The Arab terrorist Gazans and their backers choreographed a dangerous situation. Their balloons weren't party balloons. They were incendiary devices developed to burn Israeli fields when hitting the ground. This is causes enormous damage to agriculture and the environment. Simultaneously, they have been trying to destroy the security fence between Gaza and Israel in order to invade and terrorise Israel.  None of their aims are for human rights. And to make a bigger anti-Israel effect, they use human shields, holding children hoping the youngsters would be wounded or killed in order to accuse Israel of cruelty.

At night, security alarms in Southern Israel have been going off to alert Israelis to get into shelters within seconds because of the missiles shot at them. These attacks are ignored by the International media who sides with the Arab terrorists.

What I've just written is the truth, which you're not reading in Reuters or seeing on CNN, BBC etc.

Bennett's "Partial Israeli Sovereignty" Much Too Dangerous

No doubt that Naftali Bennett, Bayit Yehudi aka NRP, Israel's Economy (I still haven't figured out what that portfolio is vs the standard Finance) Minister's proposal of "implementation of Israeli sovereignty over the zone where 400,000 [settlers] live and only 70,000 Arabs,” has been publicized in other places, but I read about it in the Jewish Press.

Naftali Bennett, chairman of the Jewish Home party and a key government coalition partner, has publicly proposed that Israel annexing Maaleh Adumim, Gush Etzion and other areas in Judea and Samaria where there are large Jewish population centers. “I favor implementation of Israeli sovereignty over the zone where 400,000 [settlers] live and only 70,000 Arabs,” Bennett, who also is Minister of Economy, said on Israeli radio Sunday. His numbers are way off the mark, unless he was including approximately 250,000 Jews who live in areas of Jerusalem that have been under Israeli sovereignty since 1980. The United States and the United Nations still refer to them as “settlements.”

I oppose it, because it's like taking just a bit of your antibiotics instead of finishing the prescription. Most medical experts warn that ceasing antibiotics when the symptoms ease can enable the bacteria to become return and become resistant to those medications.

Even if declaring partial sovereignty eases pressure on Israel immediately afterwards, the chances are that within a very short time the diplomatic and security situation will be immensely worse and untenable for Israel, Israelis and Jews all over the world.  And in all honesty and after decades of experience (close to half a century of observing and experiencing Israeli politics and security) I highly doubt that there will be much if any of a honeymoon if Bennett's suggestion is implemented.

Such a policy would not only remove documented Jewish cities like my own Shiloh, but it would be a de jure border drawing between Israel and an additional Arab state whose raison d'etre is the destruction of the State of Israel.

The State of Israel has already given too much autonomy, which is sovereignty for almost all practical purposes, to the Arabs. There are many areas, cities and even neighborhoods in Jerusalem where Jews are told not to enter.  If it's "enter at your own risk" today, it will be much worse for Jewish Israelis, or any Jews who aren't escorted by Arab protectors, under Bennett's proposal.

How in the world could Israelis be defended if the Jewish areas are isolated?  Pre-June 1967 Israel was impossible to defend.

Let's just be practical and sensible.  Israel must annex all of the "westbank," Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley.  That's the only way we'll have peace and security!

Israel Does Have Borders, From the Mediterranean to the Jordan

The Israel Hayom newspaper, which appears in English on the internet and is a free giveaway in Hebrew, has been doing a series of video discussions between Editor Steve Ganot and top op-ed writer Ruthie Blum.  The latest is about the European boycott of industrial products and other things from what is known as "the west bank."

Ruthie Blum is one of my favorite writers and I must include that I know her personally.  Remember that Israel is a small country, so it's not all that unheard of or surprising that people who have the same basic principles will end up meeting and becoming friends.

I haven't copied and used the code for the embedded discussion, because it goes on automatically and is annoying to people who want to read my blog.  So just click here and you'll be able to watch and listen.

There are a number of things that Steve Ganot has gotten wrong and isn't taking into account.  Even many of the Leftists who are in favor of a "Palestinian" state want it to be "demilitarized," so that Israel would have the only army between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.  For all practical principles, that's a border.

I don't think borders are all that important in a way.  I think of borders as the fence Shiloh and some other yishuvim don't have.  When we were looking for a yishuv to move to, I'd start feeling claustrophobic when I'd see these small fenced in communities.  In Shiloh we never had that .  There's a terrible disadvantage of a fence.  It must be moved every time we build for natural growth or any other reason.  It becomes like a noose.

In all honesty, I think that trying to make policy to please the Europeans is a total mistake.  Europe, which voted for Nazis, cooperated with Nazis and cooperated with the Nazis in the murder of six million Jews and four million others, has no right to give us lessons in morality.  Yes, I know there were wars between the Nazis and European countries and Great Britain, but once the countries were defeated, they joined in the killings.

I've been living in Shiloh for thirty-two years.  I don't see us as not being in Israel.  We pay Israeli taxes, vote in Israeli elections, obey Israeli law, serve in the Israeli Army.  Ganot claims that we aren't subject to Israeli law.

Ruthie brings up the important point that according to the Arabs, the issue isn't Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley, Golan etc. The Arabs don't want us here at all!  Once we accept and recognize it we should be able to understand that all this "peace negotiation pressure" is a dangerous waste of time.
