And The Joke's on Hollywood 馃榾馃槈

I'm sure that most people consider the "Head of State," the 2003 American comedy, to be part of Hollywood's preparation for the USA to elect Barack Obama, the truth is that the unlikely and unexpected president and his campaign much more like that of Donald Trump.
Storyline

One candidate for the presidency dies in an accident a couple of weeks before the election. Meanwhile the alderman Mays Gilliam becomes a hero when he rescues a woman and her cat from an old house that would blow up. However his fiancee Kim does not pay his bills and dumps him, and Gilliam loses everything including his fancy car. When Senator Bill Arnot sees the news on television, he plots a scheme with the party advisors Martin Geller and Debra Lassiter to invite Mays to be the party nominee and lose the election for the other candidate, Vice-President Brian Lewis. Four years later, he would be the candidate and would have the chance of winning the election. Mays has a terrible beginning of campaign but when his older brother Mitch Gilliam meets him in Chicago, he advises Mays to be himself. Will he have the chance to be the first African American President of the USA? (Head of State)
I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw Trump's electoral victories, first in the primaries and then in national elections to read more like a comedy than serious politics. There was nothing funny about Obama's campaign and election. In many ways his entire rise to prominence is more like a conspiracy. Wealthy international Leftists choose tall photogenic biracial law graduate...

How Was Donald Trump Elected to the US Presidency?

First I'd like to make it clear that this isn't an article supporting Donald Trump as a person. I admit that he's certainly one of the least attractive and certainly one of the most problematic US Presidents ever elected. But Donald Trump was elected, because the Democrats put up a candidate, Hillary Clinton, with more faults and less charisma.

How Was Donald Trump Elected to the US Presidency?
  1. Trump was elected legally, according to American Law
  2. Trump was nominated because now there's a primary system, rather than allowing the politicians to wheel and deal.
  3. Many Americans were completely turned off by Democratic policies and so-called "successes" of the Obama administration.
  4. Hillary Clinton insulted many voters.
  5. The Democratic Party has moved to the Extreme Left.
  6. Many Americans feel under attack by the Left/Democrats.
  7. Donald Trump made many Americans feel more confident in the future.
These are my observations from abroad. I've been living in Israel for almost half a century. In all honesty, I'm not only glad that we made the move right after our wedding, but I'm sure that if we hadn't done it then, we, too could have been sucked into American Jewish life.

As Israelis who've lived in Shiloh thirty-seven years, we had no problem seeing the growing antagonism from the United States. The anti-Israel policies that had formerly come mainly from the State Department, has now spread to almost all parts of America, academia, the Democratic Party, the media and hollywood. Please don't forget that Obama ended his presidency with a strong attack on Israel in the United Nations.

All we in Israel have left in "our camp" are some committed Jews, mostly Orthodox, but not all, middle America and the Evangelicals. Coincidently, they are the same Americans, on the whole, who voted for Donald Trump.
  • They are the ones who just can't forget how Hillary Clinton as FLOTUS kissed Suha Arafat after a hateful, lie-filled anti-Israel speech.
  • They are the ones who aren't overjoyed at the legality of same-sex marriage being legalized, one of the great accomplishments of the Obama administration.
  • They are the ones who prefer to check the policies and platform of a presidential candidate, rather than the sex or race.
  • They are the ones who don't want how-to sex education for young children.
  • They are the ones whose children serve in the US Military and Police Forces.
  • They are the ones who don't think that a person's sex can be changed by surgery and hormones.
  • They are the ones who believe in absolute values and rules.
  • They are the ones who fear that their country has been hijacked by radical extremists who not only rioted when they didn't like the 2016 Presidential Election results, but have made it difficult for others to voice opinions.
From my vantage point halfway around the world, I see the United States losing basic democratic values. The media and academia are preferring to voice and accept only one opinion.

American Presidential Campaigns New Reality TV, Opra? Gevalt!

Ever since the main party presidential nominees in the United States began being selected by primaries, television has begun playing a very big part in the campaign. This is even more than the true story of how Richard Nixon lost a very close race to John F. Kennedy because of his lack of sweat shields/guards and not bothering to shave off his 5 o'clock shadow. Today's candidates have professional stylists, under various titles, just to make sure the candidate will look fresh, clean and attractive at all times of the day or night. But even Hillary's expensive wigs and makeup didn't cover her character blemishes.

It's no secret that Donald Trump's popularity with the public was a result of his reality tv shows. So the Left/Democrats have been searching for a celebrity to run in 2020. Administrative and political experience aren't necessary. They are looking for someone who has a big smile and can generate applause. Being black, female and able to learn lines is another priority, since their pet Obama was addicted to his teleprompter and other memory "aids."  National polictics is a media popularity contest, because nowadays twitter, whatsapp and facebook are where people fact check.

This is so pathetic and frightening too. Just a couple of decades ago, countries like India were mocked for electing movie stars. And even though Ronnie Reagan left movies for politics and had actual government experience, serving as the 33rd Governor of California from 1967 to 1975 before running for president, he was put down by the Left for his movie background.

Now the Democrats and Left are kvelling, because Oprah Winfrey made a speech that got applause and sounded like a campaign speech. Gevalt. Is a good diet and speech enough to be POTUS?

Could Nikki Haley be The First Female POTUS?

I don't know about you, but I've been very impressed by Nikki Haley, who is the American Ambassador to the United Nations. And to be honest, I'd be impressed by such qualifications and pro-Israel policies even if she wasn't a female.  When I check out the quality of a person in politics, I don't consider the sex of the politician. I look at policy, honesty and statements/actions when it comes to Israel. From what I've seen of Haley, I'd be very happy to have her as POTUS, President of the United States. What do you think?

Ambassador Nikki R. Haley

Ambassador Nikki R. Haley is the United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations and a member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet.

Prior to her service at the United Nations, Ambassador Haley served as Governor of South Carolina and chief executive of a state government with more than 67,000 employees and an annual budget of more than $26 billion.

Under Haley's leadership, South Carolina's economy flourished. Haley visited foreign countries including India, Sweden, France, Germany, and Japan on economic development missions to recruit jobs and investment for South Carolinans. She negotiated deals with some of the largest corporations in the world and convinced them to make South Carolina their home.

The state announced jobs in each of South Carolina's 46 counties - more than 85,000 jobs total - and South Carolina’s unemployment rate hit a 15 year record low during the Haley administration.

Haley was the first governor in America to sign legislation combatting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divest and Sanction, or "BDS", movement. Haley also fought back against efforts to bring terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base to the United States. In 2015, Haley led South Carolina through one of its most difficult periods, forging unity and consensus in the wake of tragedy at Charleston’s Emanuel A.M.E. Church, the removal of the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds, and the record breaking 1,000-year flood that devastated the state.

Born in Bamberg, South Carolina, the daughter of Indian immigrants, Haley’s first job was keeping the books for her family’s clothing store —at the age of 13. She is a proud graduate of Clemson University.

Haley and her husband, Michael, a Captain in the Army National Guard and combat veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan’s Helmand Province, have two children, Rena, 19, and Nalin, 15.

Why isn't Hillary Clinton POTUS?

aka Why did Hillary Clinton lose the American Presidential Elections?

And NOT Why did Donald Trump win?

Robert J. Avrech wrote some interesting things Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Understand George Orwell’s 1984, and I just had to throw my two cents 2¢ in the ring.

More than running a bad campaign, the truth is that Hillary Clinton just doesn't have the temperament and character to be a national leader.
  • The other day I saw a clip of Hillary explaining that she couldn't do well on debates, because she was unnerved by Trump staring at her. Duh?! Need I say more about how she'd handle real pressure?
  • Instead of presenting herself as a national leader, Hillary stressed her support for Extreme Left issues.
  • Instead of presenting herself as a national leader, Hillary belittled and insulted Trump supporters.
Hillary Clinton a Feminist? You must be kidding.
  • Hillary has stuck by Bill all these decades even though his philandering has been public knowledge.
  • A true Feminist would sympathise with the female victims of her lecherous husband, but Hillary attacks them and stands by her man.
  • A true Feminist isn't afraid to be on her own; Hillary has remained tethered to Bill.
Extremely important to remember:
Hillary's policies were in opposition to Traditional Family Values which lost her votes in demographic groups which she had been certain were hers.
Someday a woman will be elected President of the United States, and for the sake of the USA and the world, I hope and pray that it will be a woman who can run on her qualifications and character, rather than trying to play the gender card. It's sexist to say that one should vote for a candidate, because "it's time we put a woman in the White House."

USA 2020 Presidential Elections Begin

Yes, I have no doubt that American Presidential Election Campaigns begin long before polling day, and no doubt that 2020 has begun.
credit

As I have written, Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign began in around 2007 when she realized that Barack Hussein Obama was going to get the Democratic nod for 2008. For her cooperation aka "silence," she was promised clear sailing in 2016, which she got. She spent a good portion of that waiting time sewing up all of the heavy donors, so that nobody, with a chance, could afford to run against her.

There's already talk about Michelle Obama running for the Democrats in 2020. She does have a strong chance to beat some Republican contenders, unless the Right versus Left demographics, family size, continue to influence voting results. While the Left in America will gladly vote for a woman, regardless of her policies, the Right is more cautious and is wary of another Obama in office. This has nothing to do with gender and color. Many are terrified of the America being planned/envisioned by the Left and political Democrats. So even the most feminist of Republicans will prefer voting for a man who shares her ideology.

And in the Republican Party, those who are hoping for 2020 to be their year are already trying to make points around the country, like  Ted Cruz. The Republicans had a nice healthy, young crowd who competed against Donald Trump during the primaries, so no doubt that a few of them will use that experience to try again for the Republican Nomination.

Let's just pull up a seat, since the show has already begun.

Americans, So You're Not Happy With Trump? Change the System!

As I've written before, the two main party nominees for the American Presidency were the two worst in the History of the United States of America. And as "unsuitable" Donald Trump may be as POTUS, I still shudder at the thought that if it wasn't for the Electoral College, we'd see Hillary* and her crooked cronies in charge.

One of my "visual aids" for teaching vocabulary

I'm a remedial teacher and have a knack to describe complicated things rather clearly. So, here's my very simple explanation why and how Donald Trump managed to mow down all the other Republican wannabes.
PRIMARIES

  • Yes, by giving ordinary Americans the opportunity to choose a candidate, it was pretty easy to predict that they'd choose the better showman. Voters confused reality television with reality.
  • Viewers loved the outrageous Trump statements, which encouraged news channels/sites to give him oodles of free publicity which snowballed and saved him advertising money.
  • The financial cost of Primaries is so high that only the wealthiest or those with the richest backers** can afford to compete.

And there's another reason why Trump won, and that's the one even harder for the Democrats to accept. They just aren't in synch with the ordinary American citizen, rich, poor, Right, Left and Center. Yes, I know that many of you are about to shout that Hillary won the popular vote. Yes, she did, but that was due to her support in just a couple of very heavily populated states. The county results of 2016 should be taken very seriously.

2016 County Map

Democrats lost in the House, Senate and Governorships. ALL THAT RED AREA VOTED FOR TRUMP! Spooky, isn't it?

Before the Primaries season, Trump hadn't a chance at all. When he campaigned in the Primaries, even if Trump, himself, didn't take his campaign seriously, ordinary Americans did. And by the time the Primaries campaign was over enough American voters had identified with his anger and fears to support him, even though most of the media, plenty of their favorite athletes and pretty much all of Hollywood kept insisting that he was an unqualified, dangerous nut case, and they should make Hillary the first female President of the United States of America.

If the Democrats want to win, they must understand that ordinary Americans did not relate to their platform. They found many of the campaign promises, and the "accomplishments" of the Obama administration terrifying. And now, they still feel attacked by the Left, because Trump isn't being given a fair chance, at least in their eyes.

If the Democrats were smart, they'd just let Trump fail on his own.

If the Democrats want to win, they should be quickly grooming some young Centrists to run in 2020.

And if Americans want more qualified nominees, they must rollback the Primaries or they'll just get more and more reality stars in high office.

*It's not just that she's anti-Israel, but don't forget all the foreign funding supporting her fake "charity."
**That is how Hillary Clinton dominated the Democrats. She had already contracted with all of the big Leftist money well before the Primaries even began.

Give Trump a Chance, The democratic Way

It isn't a typo. I purposely wrote "democratic" in the title with a lowercase "d." There's a reason. With an uppercase "d" it would be the name of the political party that lost the American Presidential Election. But the meaning of the word in lowercase is:
According to political scientist Larry Diamond, democracy consists of four key elements: (a) A political system for choosing and replacing the government through free and fair elections; (b) The active participation of the people, as citizens, in politics and civic life; (c) Protection of the human rights of all citizens, and (d) A rule of law, in which the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens.[3] Wikipedia
And that should be taken very seriously by Americans. According to American Law, Donald Trump won the Presidency. People can be disappointed, but to protest the results the way we've been seeing is anti-government, anti-rule of law and anti-democratic.

Worrying Antidemocratic Phenomenon

Yitzhak Rabin (photo credit: Flash90)
Over twenty years ago, when Yitzchak Rabin was Prime Minister of Israel and complaining against the growing popular protests against his approval/acceptance of the rogue Oslo Accords, he was recorded as saying* that he's "the Prime Minister of 98%**  of the people."

This statement of Rabin spooked me out then, and that unpleasant, worried feeling hasn't lightened one iota ever since I first heard it.

We all know that politicians in office do feel more kindly to their supporters than those who didn't vote for them, but they are supposed to their best to at least give the impression that they will serve all the people of the country or district they represent.

Awkward handshake as Trump and Obama meet face to face
for the first time. Photo: AAP
No doubt it wasn't easy for American President-Elect Donald Trump to meet POTUS Barack Hussein Obama the first time after all of the nasty hate-mongering things Obama had said about him. But they both did and said the proper things, literally gritting their teeth, (maybe holding in the bile,) as they posed before the cameras praising each other and promising a smooth transition for the good of the United States of America.

In Israel, Right, Left or Center, we're pretty used to the reality of finding ourselves with a Prime Minister we abhor, but we accept it as a fact of life and don't riot in protest.

I find the anti-Trump "not my president" riots, protests etc., which is even supported by schools and universities, not just the media, worse than disturbing. It's the protests and lack of acceptance that portends dangerous undermining of the Constitution and democracy in the USA.

The United States proudly claims itself to be one of the oldest democracies in the world, but it isn't behaving as one. This has me worried. I hope that Hillary and Obama will quickly and very publicly send everyone home for a good night's sleep and request that they do the proper thing and recognize rule of law that Donald Trump will be their next President.

**thanks to a friend who found this reference, indirect quote
"...Rabin, the man who proclaimed as prime minister that his opponents could continue to "spin like propellers" as far as he was concerned, and said openly that he was Prime Minister of 98% of the nation, not the 2% who so strongly opposed him.  (Another version of his remarks has it that he said his job was to provide security to 98% of Israel's population.) Either way, one could see why he was not loved by lovers of the Land of Israel."

*I couldn't find any reference in English, but a friend found all of these including the English above. The percentage Rabin gave was 98%. He considered the opposition to be very marginal in Israeli society, although many more than 2% opposed Oslo. Here are links and quotations in Hebrew:

In Democracy, You Sometimes Lose

Winner takes all...

credit

Didn't we all grow up hearing that little truism? That's democracy in its purest sense. One wins, and the other loses, and the winner gets all the chips.

I'm very worried about the state of American society now that thousands of Clinton supporters have taken to the streets in a truly fascist display of antidemocratic rioting.

In reaction to these dangerous riots, yes, dangerous to American democracy, Hillary Clinton must get out in public and request demand that everyone return home and accept the fact that they lost the election. That is exactly what they would have demanded from Trump supporters if the shoe had been on the other foot.

Hillary vs Trump: It Ain't Over 'till It's Over

google

For pundits like me, the 2016 USA Presidential Elections is a dream. We have two unlikely by history's standards candidates slugging it out. Both Hillary and Trump are "overaged" by most standards and historical precedent. Hillary is the first female presidential candidate/nominee from a main party, and Trump, unless I'm mistaken, has never actually held public office or a military position. Dwight Ike Eisenhower, who was President when I was a kid, from 1952-60, had been a military man and may not have been an elected official.

Remember that Hillary had planned on being elected in 2008, but when the Kennedy women bucked their clan leader Uncle Ted and supported Obama, her plan went up in smoke. She was then "compensated" with the position of Secretary of State, and mistakes she made when running the State Department are seriously hurting her campaign, reputation and image.

From the minute Donald Trump threw his hat into the ring, people -especially the media- considered him a sideshow clown act. During these past couple of years, there have been more headlines announcing his campaign's collapse and his disenchantment with the idea of being POTUS than anything serious.

The 2016 campaign and choices have polarized the United States more than any other. I keep reading of lots of threats to leave the country from the Left if Trump wins and from Jews is Clinton wins.

Early on the polls all predicted a Clinton landslide, but now, with a month and a half before Election Day, it's getting very close.
Clinton, Trump now neck-and-neck in Electoral College projection
A lot of Trump's rise and Clinton's slide have to do with her mistakes and hate-filled rhetoric. Not only is she insulting his supporters, which not only prevents any from wanting to switch sides but also makes it clear that she would not be a unifying president, but she broadcasts her racist views by stressing Obama's "black" identity. In her recent speech about the controversy over Obama's birthplace, instead of just referring to him as president and the legalistic issues, she stressed that he's the first black president, which should give him a special status/immunity. And if Hillary loses, that attitude of hers may very well be the key to her fall. Hillary is not at all presidential; she is too filled with hate.

Remember that the campaign isn't yet over. Yes! It ain't over till it's over. Don't forget that.

US 2016 Elections, Ronald Reagan's Legacy

http://media.salon.com/
Unlike Alan Dershowitz, I'm not at all surprised at the unpredicted by people of his ilk success of Donald Trump. As I've blogged many times the past year plus, I feel that Trump's popularity, unpredicted by the usual experts and pundits, and his primaries victories are a continuation of the process begun over half a century ago by Ronald Reagan.

I remember how Reagan was mocked by the media.
"What does an actor known about politics and government?"
That was the theme of many op-eds and political speeches. But the silent, yet voting, majority loved him. In California he was elected Governor in  1966 serving for eight years, and then he was elected President of the United States in 1980 and then for a second term in 1984.

Reagan was a more popular and successful politician than actor, though no matter what he did, he couldn't rid himself of the "actor" label. One of my favorite Reagan stories is from an interview I once read in which he wondered why people thought his acting background wasn't suitable for the US Presidency. He wondered how a non-actor could succeed in the job.

http://www.slate.com/
Ordinary Americans trusted Reagan much more than they trusted the professional politicians who opposed him. And today's Americans seem to trust Donald Trump more than they trust the professional politicians of today. Many have gotten to know him on his tv shows on the small screen, which nowadays is pretty big in most homes. That's very much like how Americans got to know Reagan by watching his old movies on television.

Nowadays everybody knows that JFK, the fairy tale Camelot POTUS, was more Peyton Place, before the censor got to it.  Just like Reagan's marital history broke the anti-divorce "rule," Trump's personal life just makes him more attractive to ordinary Americans who now have "everything" in their families.

There's a good chance that the Electoral College will give Hillary the Presidency, while popular vote will go to Trump. Nobody can predict at this point. It's a rollercoaster of a campaign for sure.

Olympia Looping POV Largest Most INTENSE Traveling Roller Coaster Ever Built

Hold onto your hats! And because the Electoral College can very easily distort the results of a Presidential Election, I'd like to see Congress passing a Constitutional Amendment to eliminate it completely!

Hillary or Trump? Does It Really Make a Difference for Israel?

i.ytimg.com
Let's weigh in with your opinion. What do you think? Will it really make a difference for the State of Israel?

  • In the long run, does a United States President control the State of Israel?
  • Or in the short run, does a United States President control the State of Israel?
  • Can a POTUS veto Israeli Prime Minister and Knesset?
  • Can the Israeli Prime Minister act independent of American Governmental policy/orders?

U.S. Elections: Voting With One's Head, The Kippa Poll! #1

It has come to my attention that there's a very creative kippa (the cute little beanie cap that many Jewish men wear for religious and Jewish identification reasons) company designing kippot for the 2016 American Presidential Elections.
Pic-A-Kippa established by two former IDF lone soldiers has expanded its very pro-Israel Zionist collection of printed kippot to include a variety for those who want to go headfirst to promote either Hillary or Trump in the upcoming elections. As with all of their products, they donate 10% of each kippa to The Lone Soldier Center in Israel.

I don't know if this skews the results, but there are more designs for Trump than for Hillary.

So far, according to sales figures, Donald Trump is in the lead, and as long as the company sends me statistics, I will keep you updated. If I'm not mistaken, these numbers are from yesterday August 7, 2016.

For the up to date Kippa Poll, click here.

91 heading for Trump

49 heading for Hillary
You can purchase the kippot or any other designs offered, plus an option for special orders, online https://picakippa.com/  or in these stores:

And of course tell them that you read about them here on Shiloh Musings.

U.S. Presidential Elections 2016- A Major Dilemma

An extremely large portion of people I've discussed U.S. Presidential Elections 2016 with agree that they are extremely unhappy with both Democrat and Republican Presidential Nominees. Most people, it seems, would prefer to do a Rip Van Winkle and sleep deeply for four or even eight years. They are terrified at the idea of either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is President of the United States of America.

abc news

This is the election in which too many people are looking to choose the least of two evils, and the people I generally agree with are all choosing Donald Trump.  This includes Americans living in the states and those living in Israel. For some the decision is very easy. The consider Trump far superior to Hillary Clinton. And others who support Trump and aren't afraid of him as President are disgusted at his runaway mouth and verbal impulsivity.

I haven't "interrogated" people systematically, but it's clear that nobody who agrees with my general politics can find a logical rationale to vote for Hillary. They are all much more terrified of giving Hillary Clinton such power.

divorce?
Hillary is a far superior campaigner than Trump. She is an amazing actress. I'd say that Hillary and husband Bill, as a couple, are more talented actors than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

I've never used my right to vote in American Elections, and if I break that record this year, it will be to vote Republican for Donald Trump.

American Politics So Scripted- Look at The Spontaneous for Truth

Daily Mail
AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster
You really had to be impressed by the fantastic planning of the recent Democratic National Convention. I was really impressed that whoever designed it -yes, no doubt there was a crew of designers- even had Hillary, Chelsea and Anne Holton, Tim Kaine's wife in color coordinated red, white and blue! If anyone thinks it was just a coincidence, then they must not only believe in Santa and the Tooth Fairy, but no doubt they think that 007 James Bond was a historic figure.

As much as I don't trust Hillary Clinton's politics, positions and morality, nor do I like her pants suits, I must admit that she's a great actress/speech-giver and campaigner. I couldn't stop laughing when hearing her say that she accepted the nomination with "humility." I'm sure that the committee of speechwriters she employed for her acceptance speech had fun with that word, too. Humility and Hillary Clinton? What an oxymoron!

The Democratic National Convention was an almost perfectly staged production. American Flag burning and the Palestine flag that was displayed were improv, no doubt. A few lines in various speeches also took away from the perfect parve unity and "America's Great" theme.

Fred Taub of Boycott Watch did a great job combining these moments to give you and me a true picture of the Democratic Party of 2016.

Bush Republicans- Sore Losers!

In American democracy, like baseball, tennis and American football, there's no such thing as a tie. There's one winner and winner takes all. True democrats, small "d,"  are supposed to accept their losses, and when it comes to a Presidential nomination, support the winner, even if he/she is the candidate least favored. The majority wins. That's what democracy is all about.

At this point in the American Republican political calendar, it doesn't really matter which of the wannabes you supported, a loyal Republican leader, like those in the Bush Clan, have a responsibility to accept that their candidate lost, and Donald Trump won the nomination to be the official Republican Presidential nominee.

Social Delta

I have no doubt that the Bush Machine is supporting, in one way or another..., the Republican minority that is undermining/sabotaging Trump's democratically chosen candidacy.
Convention drama: Trump campaign stops rules rebellion
Cleveland (CNN)Open discord and revolt broke out on the floor of the Republican National Convention Monday as GOP officials crushed an attempt to change party rules, a maneuver that could have embarrassed presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
In a highly unusual show of disunity and anger on the floor of a modern party convention, a group of states tried to force a state-by-state roll call vote on the rules of the convention. The rebellion apparently caught Trump's campaign team by surprise, and his lieutenants were seen frantically whipping votes on the floor to squelch the effort amid scenes of deepening disarray.
Without powerful backing, the anti-Trump Republicans would have accepted their loss and either played ball fairly for Trump, or quietly wiped their tears and started working on 2020. This does not look good for Republican democracy, not at all.

It's clear that these sore losers would rather hand the Presidency over to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats than support Trump. Remember that no Republican got close to Trump in the primaries. It's a sorry state for the Republicans to be so un-American, so antidemocratic, so disloyal to their own party, so selfish and so disregarding the wishes of the voters.

Maybe This Year, For the First Time, I Will Vote in U.S. Elections

credit
Even though I reached American voting age forty-six 46 years ago, when one had to be twenty-one 21, I've never voted in U.S. Elections. Maybe if 1970 had been a "presidential year" I would have applied for an Absentee Ballot, but it wasn't, and all I could think of was getting married and then on the boat to Israel. American politics and elections were not on the menu.

A bedrock programme in the UK
comedy structure, Yes Minister embodied
the early 1980s attitude to authority and
politics as a gently hypocritical world
filled with doubletalk.
And over the decades living here in Israel, no American presidential candidate had me excited and enthusiastic enough to fill out the forms and apply for an Absentee Ballot. My general cynicism and decades of following the news and politics here and there have just strengthened my feelings that all candidates lie or at best once in office have much less control over things than one would think. Again I'd like to recommend the fantastic British comedy "Yes, Minister."

So, davka, why now am I tempted to break my custom?

As in the past, there is no candidate I desperately want to help by giving my vote, but for the very first time there really is a candidate whom I do not want to see with the power of the American Presidency. This is especially after eight years of Barack Hussein Obama who has turned a rare, war only, custom/principle into the norm; Executive Privilege which overrides American democracy. I'd hate to think of what Hillary Clinton would do with so much power.

So maybe I will vote and I'd vote for Trump. He may not be the best candidate, but he's light years better than Hillary!!

So It'll Be Hillary versus Trump

Hillary Clinton is now the first woman to be in the running, barring anything unforeseen, as nominee for a major party for the Presidency of the United States. And if I'm not mistaken, Donald Trump is the first to be in the running, barring anything unforeseen, as nominee for a major party for the Presidency of the United States who isn't coming from a political, public service or military background, (at least in modern times re:Trump.)

And unlike other nominees over the years, nobody is parve, neutral about these two. Either you love or hate one or the other or both...

Hillary has been in the news for decades, sort of overcooked, and I've liked her less and yes. Overcooked is the word, like how disgusting vegetables, especially green vegetables get when they are stewed forever. I don't like her policies and I don't like her as a person. I would have respected her more if she had thrown out her philandering Bill decades ago. But apparently their marriage is one of those unconventional ones, which somehow lasts. I don't trust her politically at all. She knows how to pick good speechwriters and deliver powerful speeches. Keep her on the stage performing, but don't take her seriously. She'll say anything for a vote and a headline.

Trump is also a good performer. Nobody is quite sure what his policies would be if elected. His personal life isn't any more classically "perfect" than Hillary's, but he has been more open about it. Ex-wives are pretty hard to hide, as are premarital photos of the present wife. He also has a knack to pick good staff, which is how he has made so much money on his mega building projects.

So, yes, they do have a lot in common and are similar ages.

But still, as an Israeli, I have no doubt that Hillary will be bad for Israel. And I have a feeling that Trump will try to stay clear besides the usual pally visits to meet the players here.

The next few months should be pretty entertaining. Hold onto your hats....

The Obama Bucket List: Cuba, Vietnam and Hiroshima

Lame Duck POTUS Barack Hussein Obama has been celebrating his final months as United States President in rather ...surprising? Leftist? radical ways.

It's hard for any American of my generation to imagine a United States President having an official state visit to Cuba and meeting Ra煤l Castro. But Obama has changed the relationship between the USA and Cuba a complete 180 degrees.

Another shocker for me, at least, is Obama's visit to Vietnam. When I left the United States it was at war in Vietnam.

Luong Thai Linh—Pool/AP

Maybe I've missed something, but I can't figure out how those countries changed sufficiently to cause a United States President to grin and glow like a winner of a gazillion dollar lottery.

And POTUS Obama's opening statement in Japan shows just how disengaged he is from American history:
Upon his arrival Thursday in Japan, Obama called the world's first nuclear attack, on Aug. 6, 1945, "an inflection point in modern history," telling reporters at a news conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe: "It is something that all of us have had to deal with in one way or another." (nbcnews.com)
Yes, he sounds like the radical Leftist he was raised to be by his mother.

NYPost.com
After Obama, the United States will never be the same. No doubt that is why Donald Trump is now leading in the polls had to head against Hillary Clinton! If you are among those who don't like it, you can blame it on Barack Hussein Obama!
