The roads I travel between Shiloh and all over Israel have both Arabs and Jews on them.

And all of us, Jews and Arabs will enjoy the improvements being made on the road between Shaar Binyamin/Ramalla and Jerusalem.

The United Nations purposely distorts the situation to propagate and incite against Israel.

It doesn't matter what Israel does, the international anti-semites, Left, Right and Center will find ways to interpret the facts to make Israel look bad.

Decades ago when Israel began to promote "autonomy" to allow the Arabs in the land Israel liberated in the 1967 Six Days War to rule themselves in administrative and municipal matters, the intention was to reduce "occupation." But of course this has been distorted by world bodies into something anti-Arab.

It morphed into the P.A. Palestinian Authority, which is among the most corrupt regimes in the world. Local Arabs fear to protest, because such an act could be fatal. The P.A. Palestinian Authority gets outrageously large amounts of money from international bodies, while many/most basic services are covered by Israel, Israeli taxpayers no less. Most of their funds go to the pockets of their leaders, and the rest is sent as stipends/"pensions" to Arab terrorists and their families. Yes, the United Nations, European Union and innumerable NGOs financially, politically and ideologically support Arab terrorists. But we all know that only Israel is condemned for immoral, sic, policies and actions.

Way back when, it seemed like too good to be true when the idea of "autonomy" for Arabs in YESHA was first proposed. Of course they should take responsibility for their garbage collection, road building etc.

According to Wikipedia, the idea was first suggested by Yigal Allon of the Labor Party, soon after the 1967 Six Days War. But according to the Jewish Virtual Library, and my memories, it was Menachem Begin's plan after he became Prime Minister in 1977. In a sense then a probably both right. That's because Begin was the one who made it happen.

... With the establishment of peace we shall propose the introduction of an administrative autonomy for theArab residents of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip on the basis of the following principles:
The administration of the military rule in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip will be abolished. Every resident who is 25 years old or older the day the list of candidates for the administrative council is presented will be entitled to be elected to the administrative council. The administrative council will be elected in general, direct, personal, equal and secret elections.
The administrative council will establish the following departments: department of education: department of transportation: department of construction and housing: department of industry, commerce and tourism: department of agriculture: department of health: department of labor and social betterment, department for the rehabilitation of refugees: department of legal administration and supervision of the local police force. The administrative council will issue regulations pertaining to the activities of those departments.
Security and public order in the areas of Judea, Samaria and Gaza will he entrusted to the Israeli authorities....

So, is that another of Menachem Begin's big tragic mistakes? I think so. These seemingly harmless domestic responsibilities given to the Arabs here have morphed into dangerous terror states recognized as real states/countries by most of the world and pretty much all of the international bodies from the United Nations to the Olympics. And it has puffed up and strengthened Hamas, which unabashedly supports terror against Jews.

The "P.A. Genie," Is Israel in Control of the Palestinian Authority?

Likud's Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz has me troubled and not for the first time. His bombastic or unrealistic statement "we will need to seriously weigh the dissolution of the Palestinian Authority" is typical of his "just missing" the point.

Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz tore a page out of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s playbook on Sunday, warning that Israel would dissolve the Palestinian Authority if the resolution it is expected to bring to the UN Security Council by the end of the year actually passes.
“A vote is expected in the UN on the aggressive, hostile and one-sided resolution regarding a Palestinian state,” Steinitz said Sunday.

I may not be as intelligent, educated or politically powerful as Steinitz, but sometimes things look clearer from a distance. Steinitz has been part of the Likud, part of the system for many years. I remember arguing with him at the succah my neighbor Moshe Keinan had erected near the President's Residence the Succot after his son, Avihu's murder by Arab terrorists in a  poorly planned army action just before Rosh Hashannah well over ten years ago.

Like too many powerful people, Steinitz tries to combine Right, which includes genuine Jewish ethics, and western democratic, Liberal values. He believes they can work together, maybe like mayonnaise, but I think they are more like oil and water. No matter how hard you shake them, they will inevitably separate.

Today's P.A. Palestinian Authority has taken on the trappings of a state, no matter what the Israeli Government likes to think. We are in a very dangerous situation, because it seems that Prime Minister Binyamin Bibi Netanyahu  and his cohorts are in la-la land.

This all started with the late and very first Likud Prime Minister, Menachem Begin, who called for Palestinian autonomy; granted he didn't use the "P word."

But once that "genie"aka "autonomy" was let out of the jar, Israeli security, authority and international standing have gone seriously downhill.

Contrary to what Israeli leaders, yes including the ruling Likud, likes to believe, as far as most of the world is concerned there already is a "State of Palestine," sic. So they would respond to any attempt of Israel's "dissolution of the Palestinian Authority" as aggression against a recognized country. That's "a fine kettle of fish" our so-called Right leaders have gotten us into.

How long will it take for the State of Israel and the Jewish World to admit, to realize, to internalize that we are in very serious danger?

Ever since the late Prime Minister Menachem Begin offered the Arabs what he called "autonomy" thirty-five years ago, it has been clear to me that a very big and dangerous Pandora's Box had been opened.

Begin opened the dike. Little drops become a flood. You can't sweep a flood of water into a corner and control it.

It got much worse when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced that he supported the "two state solution" five years ago. Begin's "autonomy plan" had metamorphosed into a state for the "Palestinians." And it doesn't help that both of those Likud leaders had tacked all sorts of provisos, restrictions, conditions on their plans/proposals.

Words take on wings and can't be taken back.

Now more and more countries and international bodies are recognizing this "state" that has as its main aim and goal the destruction of the State of Israel. That "little detail" doesn't bother them. They don't care if Israel is destroyed and replaced by an Arab country called "Palestine." They sincerely believe that we destroyed and took over an earlier "Palestine." They consider us the usurpers, the invaders, the occupiers.

The Arabs won't be pacified or satisfied if they are just given Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley. They want Jerusalem, not Shiloh, Herzeliya, not Efrat.

Paula Stern explained it very clearly in her recent It’s about Israel, Stupid:

...There were NO settlements in 1948 when the powerful combined forces of more than five nations invaded the newly declared State of Israel. The goal was clear – they said it with their own mouths at a time when politically correct was a non-existent concept, genocide was still fresh on the minds of most humans, and the Arabs weren’t  smart enough to temper their English messages. They would, they promised – push the Jews into the sea. That’s right – the sea.

Why is it that what is so clear to me and people like Paula aren't seen and acted on by our Israeli Government?

Menachem Begin's Palestinian "Genie;" It All Started With "Autonomy"

Way back when, almost thirty-eight years ago, when Israel's great electoral "Mahapach," electoral upheaval of 1977 happened and Menachem Begin's Likud was elected to power the very first time after twenty-nine years of Labor rule, absolutely nobody expected davka him to make revolutionary policy decisions that would facilitate the establishment of a Palestinian State in the very heart of the Historic Biblical Jewish Land of Israel.  Sorry for that very long opening sentence...

Yes, the supposedly Right, pro-Jewish rights in the Land of Israel Menachem Begin's revolutionary "give the Arabs autonomy" policy opened the door to the security and diplomatic Hell that the State of Israel now suffers.

Until Begin began his policy of withdrawing from Land liberated in the 1967 Six Days War, today's scenario was totally unthinkable.

While Menachem Begin had been in the Opposition, the Leftist Labor leadership never dared proposing withdrawing from any of the Land and certainly not destroying Jewish communities. But just over a decade after Israel's totally miraculous victory in the 1967 Six Days War, Begin not only handed Egypt's Sadat the Sinai on a silver platter, he turned thousands of Israelis into refugees, giving away their homes, communities, businesses and farms.

I'll never forget the bombastic statements he made afterwards claiming that this decision will preserve Israeli rights to the rest of the Land of Israel and his promises that the new communities established in places like Gush Katif were guaranteed as permanent and Israeli.  But we all know what happened since then. Begin's successors in the Likud, Arik Sharon and Ehud Olmert came up with Disengagement and destroyed those very "replacement" communities in Gush Katif.

Even worse, the pressure on Israel to withdraw from Judea, Samaria and neighborhoods in Jerusalem have only gotten stronger.

Another part of Begin's revolutionary policy, giving the Arabs "autonomy" has already turned them into a de facto and in many cases now a de jure country called Palestine.

(Reuters) - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas signed more than a dozen international conventions on Tuesday, citing anger at Israel's delay of a prisoner release in a decision that jeopardized U.S. efforts to salvage fragile peace talks.

That Palestine "genie" has grown and can't be controlled. It will take a very brave and strong Israel to destroy it. Unfortunately, I don't see any Israeli politicians with the guts to do it.
