The Likud's Not For Me

The statement in the title can be read at least two ways.

• The Likud is not my party of choice to vote for in the upcoming Israeli Elections.
• The Likud doesn't promote policies I consider necessary for the survival and growth of the State of Israel.

Yesterday, for the second time in less than a week, I ran into an old friend who touts himself as pro-Land of Israel, Right wing etc, but he's a loyal Likudnik. We had one of those quick, straight to business, talks on the sidewalks of Jerusalem. He considers himself a pragmatist, a realist, and that's why he thinks it's important to support Bibi Netanyahu and the Likud.

I also consider myself a pragmatist, a realist, and that's why I'm not supporting the Likud. He is encouraged by the addition of strong ideological Israelis, such as Benny Begin, but I'm disappointed. Benny has returned to his father's party, which has made the sentimental and nostalgic very happy.

My sentiments are here in Shiloh, the center of Israeli political history, where the Jewish People became a Nation, the first administrative and spiritual Capital, which lasted 369 years.

The two Binyamin's, Begin and Netanyahu have mentioned nothing about the importance of Israel holding onto and strengthening its presence in Judea, Samaria and specifically Shiloh. All we hear are platitudes about an undivided Jerusalem and the importance of security.

Well, there's no security without land. It's that simple. The cease-fire lines after the 1967 Six Days War gave Israel security. Successive governments bumbled, stumbled and weakened us by handing over land and sovereignty to the Arabs. Every step in the "peace process" has increased terrorism. Much of Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel, is Judenrein, scoured/empty of Jews, and the Likud party is not promoting anything to change it.

I hope and pray that there will be a political party I can vote for with a clean conscience, a political party I can promote and work for without embarrassment and the need to make excuses for. All I want is one with a very simple platform.

That's how I feel about the upcoming Israeli elections.

After all my begging for new elections, I'm stuck!

There's nobody to vote for. None of the parties are vying for my vote.


The Likud is offering a "scaled down" Kadima/Labor Pseudistinian State. Don't they realize that you can't be "a little bit pregnant?" It's like a surgeon leaving in some of the cancerous tumor, because he doesn't like to be a "radical."

Zot Shelanu is looking better every minute!

The Right Direction?

My blogging about my imaginary political party is just an act of desperation. I'm just a grandmother, blogger and burnt-out EFL teacher. I blog about Zot Shelanu to give a broad and detailed "hint" to those who are wiling to devote their lives to being "politicians."

The Jerusalem Post now reports that the NRP-NU are trying to put together some sort of united Right wing traditional party. Considering that the people quoted are the same failed politicians whose careers began with the National Religious Party, I'm still afraid that it's their desperate attempt to salvage the NRP. I would be more relieved and trusting if Arieh Eldad had been quoted, too. He's the key to a broader group. The problems they've had in the past are rooted in the lack of good chemistry between them. The agreement they had made prior to the previous elections was horrible. They pushed him out, even though many voters and potential voters davka wanted Eldad and not the NRP type.

Considering the recent polls, it shows that properly packaged, a broad-based all Jew Right-wing party could do very well.

24% Corruption
22% Poverty
12% Terror attacks
07% Demographic issues

The KEEVOON poll also repeated a question from the poll they carried out in
2007:

Is Israel headed in the right or wrong direction?
2008 poll: Right 24% Wrong 60% Don't know 16%
2007 poll: Right 16% Wrong 74% Don't know 10%

IMHO, Zot Shelanu, or any party taking our platform, could do very well in the next Israeli elections.

The Likud--Far From The Right

Israel's political scene is rather deceptive. Labels can be tricky. Or is it the fault of the typical psyche of a politician. Politicians want to be elected to office, and they will do an say almost anything to achieve that goal.

The Israeli media has convinced almost everyone, except those of us who due to some mental/emotional fault are immune to the brainwashing, that "everyone wants peace" and that "extreme right wing politicians" aren't popular.

As far as I'm concerned, it's all a lie. "Peace" must be defined, and the apartheid--Jews in the Ghetto "peace" being promoted would not be popular if the public was exposed to the true ramifications. And it's because of the public's attraction to right wing leaders that the left leaning media works so hard to oppose them.

The Likud's Bibi Netanyahu consistently makes it clear that he's a "centrist." The Likud's voters are to the right, but remember that it was the Likud's Menachem Begin who gave the Sinai to Egypt and destroyed all of the Jewish communities there. And don't forget that Ariel Sharon was elected as head of Likud when he announced Disengagement, gave Gush Katif to the Arab terrorists and destroyed the Jewish communities there and in northern Shomron.

Those left wing policies could never have had been implemented by the left, because they would have been opposed by the right, but the minute the so-called right is in power it turns left. Yes, it sounds like a tank out of control.

And now, Uzi Dayan announced that he's joining the Likud. Why? He's left wing to Kadima. So why is he joining Likud? He's joining, because today's Likud, which is trying to dilute Moshe Feiglin, is really left-center.

Some people tout the NU-NRP (National Union-National Religious Party) as right wing, but it isn't. The NRP is a chameleon party which traditionally joined any coalition to protect its interests. In recent years its supporters have tried pushing it to the right, but it's a Moetzet YESHA kind of right, which is really "pragmatically center," about the nicest thing I can say.

The National Union began as Moledet, reliably right, but since Rechavam Ghandi Zeevi's assassination, it has been rudderless and hooked up with the NRP. The fact that its MK Elon Supports Creating Unity Gov't shows how far from the right it has gone. He sounds like the old time NRP, willing to agree to anything as long as they're in the coalition.

It looks like I really have no choice other than to continue with my imaginary party, Zot Shelanu!

Welcome to Zot Shelanu! It's Ours!

Zot Shelanu is for Jews who want a strong, independent state in the Land of Israel. Non-Jewish Israelis who fully support Israel as a Jewish State can certainly back us.

Zot Shelanu is for all Jews, no matter what your level of religious observance. It's between you and G-d. All of us keep some mitzvot more and others less. The mitzvah which unites us the mitzvah of yishuv Ha'Aretz, settling the HolyLand.

Eretz Yisrael is for all Jews, whether in the Golan, Negev, Tel Aviv, Kedumim, Nes Tziona, Shiloh, Eilat or Hebron. For each of us there's a different spot in Eretz Yisrael which beckons. Every rock, cave, hill and plain in Eretz Yisrael is calling someone.

The media is keeping it a secret, but thousands of youth, adults and grandparents are establishing new communities in our Biblical Homeland. The mountain range, gav hahar, is the home of modern chalutzim, Jewish pioneers.

We, of Zot Shelanu, support them, but not one hundred percent, one thousand percent!

Yes, Zot Shelanu! All of Eretz Yisrael is ours, and we must make that clear, not only to the world, but to everyone here in Israel.
