Unbelievably Difficult Challenge for Pro-Israel Students on Campuses

Yesterday, I met, listened to, spoke to and observed a few dozen young campus activists who were trying to learn and absorb tools to enable them to not only cope with the terrible malignant anti-Israel atmosphere in university campuses around the world, but to try to find the magic potion to change the minds of the enemy Arab activists they study with. Yes, that's a very difficult, almost insurmountable challenge even for the most knowledgeable expert in history, psychology, propaganda and public relations.

I attended the Israel Advocacy Seminar run by David Bedein, with the assistance of Gail Winston and the "Winston Israel News" in memory of her late husband Manny.

The seminar was organized to help the students mostly on foreign campuses throughout the world, although it was attended by people of all ages. Today we are all in a position to advocate for Israel. That is the beauty of social media.  Even a simple email gives one a very powerful tool. I spoke to the group about blogging, telling them that with a blog they own and run their own internet newspaper or magazine. It can be done without expending any money. You don't even need a computer. A tablet or smartphone will do the trick.

Considering that I'm old enough to be the grandmother of the students, I was very curious about the world they live in. They were pretty quiet when given the opportunity to question Noam Bedein of the Sederot Media Center,

Nobody asked Bassam Eid of Activists for Human Rights in the Palestinian Authority the question that ran through my mind about the legitimacy of the term "Palestinian" after hearing what he had to say. Bli neder, not an oath, I'll blog about that in another post.

The speaker who really woke them up was the factual and blunt Sha'i Ben Tekoa, author of the invaluable book Phantom Nation: Inventing the "Palestinians" as the Obstacle to Peace. His invaluable information was received by many as if it was a diagnosis of cancer. Today's young students were there to get an easy to swallow pill to counteract the anti-Israel atmosphere, professors and activists on campus, and Sha'i informed them that there was no easy cure. No simple pill, slogan or formula. They begged him. They argued with him.

I just wanted to cry, to hug them.
Kids, the world hates us. You're not going to change them. All we can do for you is to try to make you stronger and clarify the facts.

There were also older participants who couldn't or wouldn't accept the simple fact that it's useless and dangerous to negotiate with the Arabs, since their word can't be trusted. I agree with Sha'i Ben Tekoa that this is a fact and not racism.

Sha'i gave the history, well-documented, about the myth, lie, fallacy of Arab Palestine. I strongly suggest reading his book or getting him as a speaker in English or Hebrew. Certainly check out his site. And listen to him here, which is the basic talk he gave to us.

I didn't stay until the end of the program, my loss for sure.

Emanuel Winston Memorial Sovereignty Conference, Information

The next Emanuel Winston's Sovereignty Conference will be on June 8th. It's a must-go. The program is extensive, lots of speakers.

VISIONS OF LASTING PEACE IN ISRAEL: SOVEREIGNTY @ TEMPLE MOUNT, JERUSALEM, JORDAN VALLEY, JUDEA AND SAMARIA
Sunday, June 8 at 5:00pm in UTC+03
Especially considering political, hasbara and security mess the State of Israel is at the present time, it is important to hear the experts who will be speaking at the conference. We should not be taking advice from the American Government, United Nations or any other international body. There is a solution for Israel's security and diplomatic problems, and it is ריבונות Rebonut, Soverteinty!

Jewish "Ribonut" over ALL Jerusalem, Temple Mount, Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley and The Golan Heights!

Only with sovereignty from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean will Israel have lasting Peace, Independence, Freedom & Security in a Jewish & Democratic state”

What Should We Believe re: Chemical Weapons, Iraq, Syria, Obama, Peace etc.?

We live in very confusing, tricky times etc.   Along with the blessings and advantages of instant communications, internet and more, there is also the downside.  Anyone can post anything, truth, lies, tricks etc. It was once a schlepp to get over to someone's wagon or tent to hear his message, but now, you just have to answer your phone or turn on your computer or television. You don't have to leave the comfort of your favorite chair.

So, you tell me:

Are we supposed to believe that United States Secretary of State Kerry can broker a deal to make "peace" between Israel and the Arabs?

Has Syria been secretly transporting its chemical weapons to Iraq? Or is that untrue?

Will the latest "Arab spring" bring a breath of freedom and fresh air?

Has United States President Barack Hussein Obama made the right decision to go with Russia on Syria?

Is the "Two State Solution" the savior of the State of Israel or could it be the cause of its destruction?

Everybody claims to "KNOW."  But considering how few people really agree with each other, then it's obvious that they don't know because two conflicting opinions/facts can't be right.

Today while paddling around the pool, I was talking health and recipes with a friend. She asked how I cook vegetables.  I told her that I use plain old-fashioned soy oil.
"But I've been told that olive oil is healthier."
"Yes, it is, but I don't think that it's any healthier after being cooked.  The experts say that we should only use cold-pressed olive oil, because the heat can destroy the goodness, vitamins, minerals.  Cooking with olive oil then destroys even more.  So I use olive oil in salads but not for cooking."
Yes, that's an example of how my mind works.  I don't cook with honey for the same reason.  If heating the honey for commercial production isn't good for the honey, then heating it for cooking can't be good either.

I look and listen to what the Arabs are saying.  I consider the Palestine Media Watch site to be extremely important. Instead of listening to politicians and the media projecting their presumptions, I want to know what our enemies are saying to each other and their people.  They are not educating for peace with Israel.  They are education, promoting the total destruction of the State of Israel and the banishment of the Jewish People.

They have been very clever in how they do it.  This was explained with multiple illustrations at the event memorializing Emanuel Winston, Twenty Years Since the Oslo Accords. Unfortunately, the Jewish People hasn't been using its advertising and promotion talents to counteract the Arab campaign.

It's time for us to take the lead, isn't it?

In Living Loving Memory of Manny Winston, ZaTz"L

Last night at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center I attended a very special event in honor of the 2nd Yahrzeit of Emanuel Winston.  It was MC'd by his amazing wife Gail.  We also heard messages from his two sons.  And there was a panel led by the multi-talented former aeronautics engineer, MK, Minister, Ambassador et alii, Moshe Arens. Other members of the panel were Caroline Glick, Ruthie Blum, Jay Shapiro and my husband Yisrael Medad.

At the event, it was announced that a new internet site has been created that will promote and publicize Manny's views and articles, http://winstonisraelinsight.com/.  Gail told us that there are thousands of articles waiting to be typed up and uploaded to the site.

The main subject, which was discussed in much fascinating detail was the tragic cancellation of the Lavi, the Israeli fighter plane.  Both Arens and Shapiro were heavily involved in that project, so hearing them speak added personal, factual details that can't be found from any other sources.  Arens, among other professions, is a historian and political scientist.

Here's what Arens wrote about the Lavi three years ago. It's a must-read:
Who would have believed it? Some years ago Israel was developing the world's most advanced fighter aircraft, the Lavi, while the Western world's aircraft manufacturers were beating their way to our door, eager to participate in the Lavi project, or trying to sell their competing plane to the Israel Air Force. And now Israel goes hat in hand pleading for a chance to be allowed to acquire the F-35 aircraft, at a price tag of $150 million each. But it's not only the astronomical price. Israel is told that the F-35 must be taken as is - no changes or modifications to suit Israel's specific needs, and absolutely no Israeli systems included. Take it or leave it. Just imagine Israel's position today had the Lavi project not been canceled. The IAF would be operating the world's most advanced fighter, upgraded over the years to incorporate operational experience and newer technology. Much of Israel's industry would have moved a great step ahead, Israel Aerospace Industries would have become a leading developer of fighter aircraft, and most importantly, a number of options would be open to the IAF in choosing its next fighter. (complete article)

The Manny Winston site has a very good article, actually more, about the Lavi project.  I highly recommend reading it:
Don’t build a better aircraft, or we will shoot it down
Israel was told to drop the Lavi after Caspar Weinberger observed the flight test data.  It was too good; the results were coming in too fast on the plus side.  So the “Tucker” had to be killed again.
Regretfully, the Lavi was just what the United States needed, particularly after the A-10 was shown as incapable of surviving a heavy concentration of Ground-to-Air missiles.  The U.S. desperately needed a dedicated “CAS” Close Air Support aircraft and now.  Mr. Dov Zakheim, spokesman for Mr. Weinberger came in swinging.  His job was not only to kill the Lavi but to sell a revised version of the F-16 to be called the “A” Agile Falcon 16.  This very worthy, totally dedicated air superiority aircraft was now to be modified and called the Close Air Support “CAS” the Air Force was supposed to be looking for. (complete article)

I recorded some of the talk, (until my camera's memory card got overloaded,) especially what Moshe Arens said.  As the recordings finish uploading on youtube-shilohmuse, I will post them here.  So keep checking up over the next few hours or tomorrow, too.

Herew's Gail Winston talking about what we in Israel really need, Sovereignty!
