As an English Teacher, I've had to teach my students the difference between news and opinion articles, objectivity and subjectivity. Simplistically, I've taught that news articles have facts, but the truth is that facts can be arranged to present a subjective, opinionated scene.
This New York Times article is a case in point. It's chock full of facts and photos, but it paints a very subjective picture.
First the photos:
Lebanese civilians and homes vs Israeli soldiers
Then the text, which elaborates on Israeli attacks and then mentions Hizbollah attacks on Israel, as if they were justified self-defense.
