An Open Mind in Vermont
Mr. Shay Totten of the Vermont Guardian is going to print my letter to the editor (see previous post) regarding the editorial on the subject of American aid to Israel. IMHO a lesson to potential letter writers to editors: make sure you have an out-of-the-box angle, and the editors will respond in kind. Keeping it short goes without saying. If it didn't go without saying, then it wouldn't be short because you would have said it (huh?). Talk to people you disagree with, and get into their world. Then they will be more ready to talk and listen.

Speaking as a one-time resident of West Lebanon, NH, I think you hit just the right tone. It can be viewed as either anti- (US) government or pro. As you say clearly, the US Congresscritters never stray far from self-interest!

There are no open minds in VT. The natives are good people but the darned transplants are insane.
