I'm Not Going To Be At That Demonstration

I've been asked by a number of people if I'll be at that demonstration against United States interference in Israeli affairs. No, I won't be there.

It's not that I'm in favor of America butting in, giving us orders. G-d forbid.

Simply, I don't put the blame on America. Israel just has to say:
"No!"
"Mind your own business!"
"We're an independent country and don't need your string-tied help!"

Tell the American envoys, ministers, ambassadors etc that we don't have time to talk.

I'm willing to demonstrate by the Israeli Prime Minister's Residence and remind him that he was empowered (there's no direct election for PM) by the Israeli citizens to be Israel's Prime Minister, not Obama's "poodle."

Especially having been raised and educated in the United States, I have no doubt, no doubt at all that America would cut out the pressure if we sent them packing. The American government has enough trouble with a sinking economy, health care issues and Iraq. They wouldn't fight us if they saw they would lose.

Our security is up to us! When we do the right thing, G-d will give us more strength. If we act weak and tired, it will be a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Stop making sense! Politicians HATE that! Saying the obvious out loud is SO inconvenient; it forces them to come up with some excuse why they are ignoring you. Worse, the truth tends to sink in quickly, but "spin", as propaganda (you know, "lies, damned lies, and propaganda"?) is known these days, has to be repeated by a hundred flunkies and pundits all over the media.

a, Chaim, thanks, I'm glad we're all on the same team.
We all see that the emperor is stark naked.

Thank you for the wise words...No one can make pronouncements about Israel, what it should or should not due, but its citizens and those officials elected to lead the country.

a2, thanks so much.

It sounds obvious, but it needs saying, and it's good to hear you say it. America is still a good friend... but we are walking around in circles scratching our head/

As usual Batya, you're spot on!

Shalom!
I'm not going either - for the same reasons. I'm also embarrassed by the letter that rabbis are sending to the American government, especially by the fact that they call on American Jews with influence to pressure the American government.
Court Jews.
Try to spread the word. Not enough people understand this reasoning.
P.S. Remember how much respect Israel received in 1967? And after Entebbe?

Just a clarification...
I said, "You Go Girl!" to encourage your stance. I didn't mean that you should "go" to the demo.

Thanks, please take my thanks as personal. I'm glad and heartened that you all feel the same way. Maybe we should start organizing two people vigils by Bibi's home, telling him to behave like a a country's leader, not some weak begger...

I agree with the sentiment, but I went anyway, once I understood that the main part of the demo indeed took place in front of the PM's residence, hoping that the message would be directed at the PM, to tell the US to take a walk and leave us alone.
And Indeed, that was the message of all the speeches that I heard.
(I skipped the march to the US consulate at the end, cause I agree, they are not the address.)
So in the end, sense prevailed, and the demo was simply a demand from OUR gov't to act like OUR gov't and then to OUR interests.

Phil, sincere thanks for the update.

Shalom!
I'll second that thanks.

Too bad the organizers weren't clear in publicizing the message.
