What Really Happened When Bibi Met Obama?

There's nothing like Dry Bones to say things so simply.
The reports about the Bibi-Obama meeting are mixed. And even more confusing, it seems like everyone has interpreted it according to his/her wishes and fears. We all could have written our reactions in advance.
MK Dr. Arieh Eldad, The Jerusalem Post's David Horowitz, The New York Times, Arlene Kushner... and please add your own.

Well as with the red carpet treatment Israel gave the pope my response to Bibi's meeting with Obama is this--he stood firm but left a door open enough for Obama to put his foot in.

Bibi shouldn't have gone to Washington. That would have sent a loud message. If the media is paying attention to Bibi's firmness at a meeting, they would have really stood up and noticed had showed real chutzpah and not gone at all.

He could have sent a letter along the lines of--we all dream of a two state system were Arabs and Jews live in peace. But let's not turn a dream fantasy into a waking nightmare.

All in all though, Bibi did well, much better than Livni would have. Sheesh, when she was on Fox News Sunday during Cast Lead even Fox reporters criticized her for equivocating so much.

BTW: I borrowed what I wrote about Bibi's possible response about a dream and nightmare from Happy Balagan who has a post on the study which apparently shows a large number of Israelis support a two state system.

Sorry for posting three comments in a row but I just had to get this down while i's fresh in my mind.

I was listening to NPR radio on my way home from work this morning. They did a segment on Obama's meeting with Netanyahu.

Has he gone insane? They played a tape of him referring to Obama as "a great leader of the United States and a great leader of the world."

Good heavens, is everyone under Obama's magic spell?

keli, post as many comments as you want!

good point. Obama was elected US Pres but he's no leader.

Thank you!

I recorded the radio interview. A nap later I listened to it again and Bibi sounds so somber, as if someone had a gun to his head.

Then I thought--not a gun but an Iranian missile to his head and every Israeli's head:(

From Samson Blinded Blog:

Obama-Netanyahu meeting could not be any worse.

Obama reiterated the Annapolis version of the two-state solution: the final agreement now, curbing terrorism perhaps later. Lieberman so far rejected that approach.

Obama singled out Israel for her commitments: Israel, according to the Hussein, must abide by her Road Map undertaking to freezing the settlement construction - even their natural growth to accommodate the bustling population. Not a word about Palestinian illegal construction or their commitments under the same Road Map - curbing terrorism.

Obama removed his October deadline for talking to Iran. Now some discussion is expected by the year end. The cursed Hussein could not have sent a clearer message to Iran: the ayatollahs have all the time they need to build the bomb. Netanyahu accepted Obama’s ban on attacking America’s new ally.

The end-of-year benchmark means that no new sanctions will be imposed on Iran in October, the very minimum even Israeli doves had expected.

Obama reiterated his Palestinian-first approach: Jews must first capitulate to Palestinians, and then the Hussein might perhaps support another round of toothless sanctions against Iran. He ventured an idiotic suggestion that Hezbollah would somehow wind up its activities if Israel capitulates to Palestinians. What Hezbollah’s interests in Lebanon have to do with Palestinians?

Netanyahu must have honestly admitted our loss and stage an urgent appeal to American Jews to firmly oppose the modern Chamberlain. It is not for nothing that Jews have the highest-ever representation both in the Congress and Senate. Instead, Netanyahu praised the Hussein who basically delivers Jews to Iranian slaughter-house.

Israelis who voted for Netanyahu had elected Kasztner.

Well, we got you know what. Time for Israel to act upon it's own accord. We now are alone.

True, Shiloh, I've been saying all along, that we have no true friends, only HaKodesh Baruch Hu.

keli, Obama doesn't want any negotiations. He has his demands and Israel is just an annoying fly.

Muse, as a Nation, I don't think we believe in haShem. We talk, we daven etc, but deep down, we don't have the connection. We don't think haShem is with us. The faithless shephards don't even believe either, if they did, they would be doing things much different. I was directly involved with a major prophecy some 7 years ago and know how real this movie is, but I don't understand the delays anymore. I don't know the next stage, probably for the better. The waiting is tough knowing what I am aware of, but it's up to Israel now to take the next step, if they have the courage. I really don't think they do deep down. If Bibi was aware of some things, he may have the courage to hammer Persia and tell the world to stick it. But I don't think he has it in him. Really, no one in Israel does today so we will head down a very tough road.

In terms of "as a Nation," you are correct. but remember that in terms of our history, the majority is generally wrong. Think of the 10 spies out of the 12 and that it's said that only 1/5 of Bnai Yisrael left Egypt etc. Democracy is dangerous.

Correct, democracy is our enemy in Israel. Don't follow the majority to evil. The problem is the 2/3's of the "shephards" whom are decendents of Erev Rav.

I don't know who their antecedents were. I just know that they are dangerously wrong.
