Dangers From The Likud

No doubt that most Israelis who voted Likud did so, because they wanted to see Moshe Feilgin, Tzippi Hotovilli, Ruby Rivlin, Moshe Yaalon and the rest of the strong pro-Land of Israel and proudly Jewish candidates in the Knesset.

Some of them did get in, but they don't have much influence. Unfortunately the Likud MK's with the real power are among those enjoying the perks of their friendship with Christian missionary groups like Joel Bell's.

I strongly suggest your reading up on Bell's and similar groups, and your best source of information is Jewish Israel. I know from my own embarrassing experience that it's very easy to get suckered into their web.

The missionaries call themselves many confusing things, but they don't like to use the "m" word. For many Israeli organizations, institutions and politicians, the only word they're interested in is dollar$. But once they're snared, we're all in trouble.

Dangers From The Likud
=============================
This is what we're going to get for not working in the Likud.

The call for abandoning ship has only made things worse.

Live and learn - again and again.

You Feiglin guys have been trying to "work in the Likud" for years, and what did you get? Ehud Barak (maybe we should spell it "Barack?") as Defense Minister.

If NU had been larger, then Bibi would have come begging to us!

Batya,
Thanks for this posting.
For background on that video check out the blog postings at
http://jewishisrael.ning.com/profiles/blogs/likuds-assulin-opportunist-or
and
http://jewishisrael.ning.com/profiles/blogs/look-whos-clinging-to-naomi

I'm not going to jump in on the discussion between you and Shy Guy, because I'm not sure what our or Feiglin's strategy should be at this time. But we surely need a strong JEWISH Israel - and Joel Bell has no place in that.

The first few minutes of that video (Bell's first speech) are absolutely chilling.

Chag Sameach.

You Feiglin guys
===============================
You let's-isolate-ourselves-and-form-yet-another-sectarian-religious-party-of-no-significant-consequence have been doing the same silly manouver for 50+ years more than Manhigut - with zero return on investment.

Manhigut can't do anything when all people like you can do is whine in a far off corner, on a Knesset bench constantly kept warm by whatever Mafdal mutation has recently formed.

Who says breaking up is hard to do?!

thanks, Ellen

Now, shy, since I don't know who you are or how old, it's hard to know how much history you know. I joined "Herut," the Begin Pary, lynchpin on Likud, in 1970 and haven't voted for it since Begin gave Egypt the Sinai and destroyed Jewish life there.

I was never a member of Mafdal, nor did I ever vote for it.

The Likud is not a democracy. A minority/shunned faction has absolutley no real influence, no power. Feiglin will never take it over. I'm a pragmatist.

Stop wasting your energy. If Feiglin had gone for the NU, it would be bigger than Lieberman's party.

Time-Out.

For what it's worth, I'm proud to say that I never voted for Mafdal either.

Ok. Shy and Batya, continue...
(I'm just making cheese cake and enjoying the battle)

Ellen, enjoy!
I've changed my "menu" this past half year, and I don't even miss the cake.

Let's take this one bit at a time.

-------------------------------
Now, shy, since I don't know who you are or how old, it's hard to know how much history you know.
===============================
Let us say that the age difference between us is trivial.

-------------------------------
I joined "Herut," the Begin Pary, lynchpin on Likud, in 1970 and haven't voted for it since Begin gave Egypt the Sinai and destroyed Jewish life there.
===============================
I understand your allergy but do you remember what you said earlier?

"You Feiglin guys have been trying to "work in the Likud" for years, and what did you get?"How much time did Begin try and what was the reward? Patience is a virtue. "Our" itch to not invest in time is "our" vice.

-------------------------------
I was never a member of Mafdal, nor did I ever vote for it.
===============================
When I say "our", I'm referring to Shomrei Torah and Mitzvot like you and me who want to see a Jewish government leading the Jewish people in our Jewish homeland.

I was never a member of the Mafdal either and in fact never voted for them. But you and I belong to a herd whose commoninity is more defined by direction and not by which party we cast a ballot for.

-------------------------------
The Likud is not a democracy.
===============================
True but neither are most of the other parties. In addition, as demogogic as Sharon and Netanyahu are, whatever crude tactics they employed were actually on the books. For example, had Feiglin won 17th place, he would not have been bumped off by the rule of secured seats for women and what not, though many other good people aligned with our cause would have lost their seats anyway.

In any case, Manhigut's goal is NOT to win a Knesset seat, as usefull as that may be. Which leads us to.....

------------------------------
A minority/shunned faction has absolutley no real influence, no power. Feiglin will never take it over. I'm a pragmatist.
===============================
Said by a former Herut member. Snort.

No influence? Even without ever having a single Haver Knesset, Manhigut was instrumental in getting the Likud's Central Commitee to vote against their own Prime Minister - twice! How many cases like this from around the world throughout history can you show me?

In addition, Manhigut has gone from garnering 3% of the party vote to 23% in a short amount of time.

And you seem to forget Amchah. They are not in the religious parties. They are currently rudderless, torn between a Likud with no one to stop, thanks to our not being inside where needed, and Lieberman's false rightwing party.

-------------------------------
Stop wasting your energy. If Feiglin had gone for the NU, it would be bigger than Lieberman's party.
===============================
Size in opposition doesn't matter and that's where NU will remain. And this is all assuming they won't splinter like every similar party prior to it has. One Doesn't have to be a prophet to see this coming.

Tactics and strategy. What you're employing is exactly what has failed the religious Zionist public and therefore the State of Israel since its inception.

Chag Sameach.

Oy, Shy, Begin ran a political party which merged with others and grew larger from 1948 until his retirement.

I don't think we'll ever agree on this issue.
