To Kiss a Mezuzah opens this week with very sad news. Her father had passed away on Shabbat, Baruch Dayan Ha'Emet. Since her Havel Havelim was already assembled before Shabbat, she posted it.
Obviously we have no control over life and death, and Jewish Holidays, like Passover change the usual mourning routine. Shiva (the seven day mourning period) and Shloshim (the thirty day mourning period) are stopped in their tracks. For a parent you still have the year of mourning, but it's extra difficult when mourning the other relationships, like a child, sibling or spouse is prematurely cancelled by a Jewish Holyday. This is the case for the parents and siblings of sixteen year old Daniel Viflic, who died of his wounds a week and a half after a Gazan Arab terrorist anti-tank missile hit the bus he was in.
May G-d comfort all of the mourners...
It's a sad reason to visit this week's Havel Havelim, an excellent edition, I must say. Read the posts, too. They look amazing.
