Israel Should Play "Hard to Get"

Unfortunately, the Israeli Government is continuing dangerous kowtowing to American orders.  Big deal that Obama had Rahm Emanuel invite Bibi to confer with him.  Israeli politicians will do anything to keep the United states happy, even if it endangers the security and future viability of our country.

We don't owe anything to any other country.  There is no other country in this world that takes foreign orders like Israel does.

Honestly, I don't understand.  It's not my nature.

Even politicians who speak like proud independent human beings seem to get their brains zapped and lobotomized when they take office.

Does Minister  MK Benny Begin really believe that his Likud government will approve building in Judea and Samaria when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's unilateral ten month building freeze ends according to the calendar?

I feel sorry for our youth, already made so terribly cynical by Disengagement and the restrictions on freedom of expression and unequal justice meted out against us.

I was raised in the optimistic idealistic 1960's when we believed that anything is possible and we can change the world.  And that's why they can't knock me down...

why is it so hard to build within your borders?

build within your internationally reconized borders and you'd have less problems. try to rationalize theft wont get you anywhere.

First of all they were never fully recognized, so the animal doesn't exist.
Second, they aren't secure and viable. That's why the Arabs were so sure that they'd destroy us in June, 1967.
And most important, no other country is ever treated like Israel is treated by the international community. Historic precedence is that the victor in a defensive war keeps the spoils.

The only internationally recognized borders Israel has are with Egypt (that nice line between Eilat and the Mediterranean) and Jordan (the north-south line on the Jordan and from the Jordan to the Gulf of Aqaba).

The 1949 ceasefire lines are just that--ceasefire lines. The treaties that determined those lines specifically said that those lines were not borders and would not be treated as such.

You can't steal from something that doesn't exist. Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria are built on empty hills.

as i recall, it wasnt bibi who instituted the freeze, it was his predecessor. bibi just called it a freeze.
also, yes, i do believe that after the chagim, when the freeze is over, building will resume, with a frenzy -- after all, there is a huge backup! time will tell...

yes, we do owe other countries, just as other countries owe us. we live in a global community, as full, contributing members.

dont forget -- bibi may be in the us to confer about a-jad, and how to neutralize him.
dont be so negative until the results are out!

Mr. Anonymous,

Why does the rest of the world dictate what borders a country could have?
The borders of Israel are defined in the Bible. Lawmakers who make "laws" to the contrary can't be people who are qualified to make any such laws. Anybody who doesn't hold that the Bible is a legal document needs to rethink their morals.
The United States of America is somewhat hypocritical on this topic as THEY are a country started by colonized land that was NOT THEIRS and making it into a country. They treated the NATIVE Indians like animals in their own land.
Israel is different. The Jews have ALWAYS had a presence in this land whether big or small.
Maybe we all should sit and question the legitimacy of every known country in this world b/c chances are they would not be by the "laws" either .. their ONLY differentiation is that it probably happened before that "law" was made in 1945..

It is a known fact that the "Palestinians" immigrated to this land in the early part of the 1900's because they saw economic oppurtunity in place because of the JEWISH settlements. There is a census that was taken around 1882 which was stating that the Arab population was only at 260,000 at that time.. There are also documentation of how the land was not so occupied as the Palestinians would like the world to believe. Do some research and you will find out.
The world doesn't need to recognize Israel.. We ONLY need G-D.. HE is the ONLY one that counts and the rest of the world could go jump in the lake.

Actually, the United States government is behaving as badly as the Israeli government. The President and the (temporary) majority in Congress gave a demonstration of dhimmitude when the Presiden of a corrupt government castigated the State of Arizona for daring to attempt to enforce our laws and to secure our border.

The 1200 National Guard troops (of the 6000 requested) being sent to the border are forbidden to actually patrol the border and are also forbidden to carry weapons. The governor of Texas requested a year agothat the National Guard of his state be authorized to help with the murderous gangs controlling the border area and has never received a response (not even a no). The President in his announcement of these troops (while hiding their actual orders) credited a Congesscritter who had never said a word about the matter, while ignoring the Governor and Senator who are actually trying to do something about it.

They are trying to do to the United States the same thing that they are trying to do to Israel. It is just that the consequences is Israel are more immediate and completely fatal rather than "just" reducing everyon to peonage.

Bibi should take his lead from Mordechai and not kowtow to Obama or the US in general. He might not be bowing but he is kowtowing.

Fond as I am of him, I believe he has a defeatist attitude. The way he lowered his voice almost to a whisper and said he wasn't humiliated after Obama has clearly humiliated him is sad.

I don't think Israel should have anything to do with the US, at least until Obama the Muslim is out of office.

Or Israel elects a stronger leader. I think poor Bibi is over his head with Obama and company:(

Call me crazy but when I see Israel caving in to our Muslim president, I think submission. Word association: submission=Islam.

I know next to nothing about Israel's borders so I can't comment on that.

Keli, some people grow with the responsibility of governing and others shrink. Our politicians shrink.
