Bibi's Betting On Effie Eitam

Bibi doesn't want to lose Feiglin supporters/votes, so he's negotiating with Effie Eitam to join Likud.

Polls show that the people want a strong Right wing government. But Likud support in the polls went down after Bibi's anti-Feiglin shenanigans. Bibi hopes that Eitam's presence in the Likud list will sedate the Feiglin supporters in believing that "Eretz Yisrael is safe" with the Likud in power.

Granted that your average voter doesn't delve too deeply into issues, the past etc, but I think that many people have become terribly disillusioned with Effie Eitam. My one experience meeting him in person was worse than disappointing. Eitam hasn't been effective as an MK or political leader at all.

I truely hope that Merzel, Eldad and the rest of Moledet will run together and form a united Eretz Yisreal l'Am Yisrael, The Land of Israel for the Jewish People party.

You mean Effi Eitam, I assume. Rafi Eitan is the head of the hopefully-soon-to-be-defunct pensioners party. That said, what good would it do for him to join now? It's too late for him to get on the list. Bibi rejected him when he wanted to run for Likud primaries.

Could you explain what was disapointing about Eitam?

Thanks, I'm fixing it. Call it a dyslexic moment.

kl, read the post in the link below. I wrote it a couple of years ago, and he hasn't changed. The article also mentions Rav Yigal Kaminetsky. Too bad he used his talents to calm, rather than activate his followers.

Thanks for the link though the part about Gush Katif was depresing. So the question now is who can be what we though Eitam would be...

kl, it's not a question of "who can be," it's who is. That was the crux of the Uzi Landau mistake last elections. I kept telling people (read my blog from that time) that he was weak, a follower. And now he's following Lieberman.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but after Bibi decided to prevent him from running for primaries, Eitam now signs on for a spot potentially between 30-40?! Eitan also brings with him campaign funding of 11.5 million shekels. Money that could go to the new 'national party'.

I assume that Eitam is severely burnt, the reason he bolted from the soon defunct Jewish Home. I suppose it is money being paid to ensure a spot in the next elections.

Yes, Effie's taking a lot of money with him. Burnt? Maybe because he doesn't know how to stay out of the fire. He's not suited to politics. He'd be better at inspiring people to religion. Did you read the link I posted in an earlier comment?
