The celebration was the opposite of a birthday party. Yes, it was a celebration, the delivery of a Sefer Torah, Torah Scroll, to the young community, about to celebrate its tenth anniversary, Givat Harel.
There were singing, dancing, music, food, words of Torah from great scholars, but the underlying reason for the event was something we had all wished never had happened.
Givat Harel, the young vibrant community just northwest of Shiloh is named after Harel Oz Bin-Nun, HaYa"D, the son of Rav Elchanan Bin-Nun, the Chief Rabbi of Shiloh, and Malka. Harel, who was seriously wounded when a young boy, in the terror attack in which Rachella Druk was murdered, survived that one, but was gunned down less than ten years later by other Arab terrorists. Harel's two older brothers established Givat Harel in his memory.
Family, neighbors and friends came from all over to celebrate and mourn with the family and residents of Givat Harel.
May his memory be a blessing, and may all the terrorists be destroyed.
