Thirteen years ago I was injured in a terror attack when an Arab terrorist plowed into a sidewalk of innocent Jews, Israelis waiting for a bus or a ride. Yes, thirteen years ago it was. Just before Purim, just like the terror atack today in Jerusalem.
The car, driven and aimed by the Arab terrorist, was a small car. It wasn't like today's tractor. But a woman was murdered that day, thirteen years ago and dozens of innocent Jews were injured, some seriously. Today, Baruch Hashem, thank G-d, I don't think any Jews were murdered. Two were injured, and the quick reaction of those nearby prevented more injuries and worse.
A big difference, and one which still stings, is that when I was run over the police tried to brush it off as an "accident," while today at least the police understand that it was an intentional terror attack, even though the New York Times tries to cast doubt:
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld called it a "terrorist" attack. NY Times
Outrageous, but that's the New York Times.
