OK, So Now It Has Rained, Is The Drought Over?

Heavy rains, strong winds batter Middle East Woman crushed by tree in Lebanon; sandstorms in Jordan, Egypt; streets of Damascus blanketed in snow; heavy rains flood Beirut, flights delayed.

Northern, central Israel at risk of flooding
Heavy rain continues to hit country; 120cm of snow falls in lower Hermon; wind gusts, rain expected to weaken by afternoon.

It definitely sounds good and convincing, but it doesn't mean that our drought is over.  We're not in the clear.  This isn't just a matter of a late start to the rainy season.  We've had under-average rainfall for about seven years already.  One average, or slightly above year of rain doesn't solve our drought problem.

We need seven better than average years of rainfall, and we also must conserve water.  Scenes like this should be illegal, and they may be illegal, but nobody enforces the law.

Nope. Drought warnings are still in effect, but at least winter FINALLY started.
