The True History of "Palestine," The Great Con

This wonderful slideshow/video, says it perfectly.

Hat tip: churi

  • The British encouraged the Arabs to emigrate to the Mandate land to counteract the Jewish Zionist Movement.
  • The Muslims when on the Temple Mount defile it with sports and pray facing away.
  • The so-called "Palestinian" leadership are relative new-comers to the area.

There is much that is helpful about this video; but I think the author miscalculated when he showed the photo of the cute little kid playing with the soccer ball in front of the Dome. No Christian, and very few Jews, will see that as offensive, because the subtlety of respect for holy sites will be trounced by the sweet playfulness of children. Bad choice.

All in all, the message is what it should be. we don't have soccer games at the kotel. and I can't imagine their being permitted in vatican churches.

In my childhood, hard-dribbling a basketball during Shabbat davening in the room adjoining the synagogue drove the Rabbi and the gaba'im nuts.

They didn't like a dozen of us playing red-light-green-light in the corridor, either, for some reason.

Also, they didn't appreciate our jumping from the highest step contest on the staircase opposite the Shul's main doors.

But that's just them. :)

I can imagine that. And how do your kids entertain themselves? At least here in Israel the dovening takes much less time.

Ruti, I understand what you're saying - marketing! But when it comes to the sanctity of the Temple Mount, there can be no thought given to marketing.

@Yonatan: Agreed, spiritually speaking, and if your audience is Jewish. (We'll leave out "and Torah-oriented.") Marketing does matter, if you're trying to reach an audience that will miss that point. See Shy Guy above. They may have been annoyed by it, but they didn't see it as "usser." Not an important enough point to take away from the overall excellence of the piece, however, as Batya points out.

Batya, all of our children are 1000% less monstrous than I was in childhood. That's because I dished it out but I wasn't willing to take it. I'm not crazy! :)

ruti, jonathan, I think that most religions consider holy place and sports field as opposites. But considering the massive size of Har HaBayit, more could be made for "room for all." Even though that isn't perfect.

Shy, it takes one to catch one...

Originally, Muhammed had all his followers face Yerushalayim when they bowed. I have seen that the reason for making Mecca the center of the religion was that all the Moslems were in between Jerusalem and Mecca. It was a deliberate attempt to "moon" the temple and show contempt for the Jews.

Sabba, thanks for the clarification.
