Negotiations won't bring the State of Israel peace with the enemy Arabs.
Let's say goodbye and good riddance to Kerry. |
Secretary of State John Kerry told the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday afternoon that it is a "mistake" for people to raise the issue of whether Palestinians would agree to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. The Israeli government has insisted that Palestinians do so as part of an agreement, while Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and the nations of the Arab League have all rejected Israel's demand. If our Arab enemies can't change their mindset/policy/culture and accept/recognize the legitimacy of a Jewish Israel in the Middle East, then they are not in a way ready and capable of making peace with us.
"I think it's a mistake for some people to be raising it again and again as the decider," Kerry said, when asked to clarify the official position of the Obama administration. He pointed out that U.N. Resolution 181, which divided Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state, referred to "Jewish state" several times, and that the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat had also explicitly recognized Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state.
Last week, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki told the Palestinian Al-Quds newspaper that while the U.S. considered Israel a Jewish state, it was not necessary for the Palestinians to do so. Both President Barack Obama and Secretary Kerry have made repeated references to Israel as a Jewish state recently, raising hopes that they might side with a demand the Israeli government believes is at the core of the decades-old conflict.
Kerry does not know or care what true peace for Israel really means, and neither does U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama. They have nothing to lose when proven wrong. They will soon retire from active political life and live comfortably on their government pensions plus lucrative speakers fees and other income ordinary people can only dream of. Their mistakes will be blamed on others.
We in Israel can't afford to suffer the effects of American mistakes and must disengage from all of their "help." When the local Arabs really want peace, whether in one generation or a dozen, we'll be around G-d willing to ratify it.
Remember that in Megillat (the Scroll of) Esther, the Jewish People are only saved when we ourselves take up arms to fight the enemy. There is no other way.

As I read this and other things, I can only roll my eyes and say, "What next?"
I would agree that negotiations are not going to work at this time. I also agree that letting the Palestinians off the hook by not having them recognize formally the fact that Israel is a Jewish state is wrong of the State Department.
Of course, in a sense we may not need formal recognition of the Jewish state, because such recognition is de facto. UN Resolution 181 clearly mentions the "Jewish state," and even the Palestinians implicitly accept this (although they won't say so publicly) because they quote Resolution 181. The rest of the world similarly at minimum implicitly "recognizes" Israel as the Jewish state when they quote applicable resolutions. Even if they deny it, they must do so indirectly, because it actually is a Jewish state and they can see that it is a Jewish state in practice. Unfortunately, due to entrenched attitudes, the world can't make this process easier by doing formally what they are doing informally (although I don't know if making the Palestinians mouth words is going to give a different result than we already have).
I do not trust the peace process and I am starting to think that the status quo is better for now. If the terrorists launch their rockets, let the IDF come in and clean the area up. If there are casualties, we regret innocents being hurt, but that is strictly on the Palestinians, since they endangered their own people. If the world condemns us, so be it. We will survive the entire world (and I DO mean entire--even the USA) siding with evil. (To provide another Exodus reference: David Ben Ami to Ari Ben Canaan: "Our very existence is a miracle. We outlived the Romans and the Greeks and even Hitler. We have outlived every oppressor and we will outlive the British Empire. That is a miracle, Ari." And, in my opinion, we will outlive the Palestinians, the Islamofascists, Obama, and everyone else who will threaten us. It may take "until Moshiach comes," but I would rather have a solid peace than the one that is currently being sold to us.)
Regarding your next-to-the-last paragraph, that is the situation in a nutshell. It's easy to say what Israel should do if you don't have to live with the consequences. And although there could be peace in the region this year, we may have to wait generations until the Arabs tire of their dream of, G-d forbid, destroying Israel and learn to live with the Jewish state in their midst.
Apparently Kerry is following what the Arab League decided on Sunday, i.e., that they will Not accept a peace that requires Israel to be a "Jewish State". If this is left out then Abbas can come back later and say, "since Israel is Not a Jewish state, then the world needs to assert that the "refugees" Have to be allowed into Israel". Most certainly there will be millions that will fit into the category of "refugee". This would be the beginning of the end.
Also, I watched the Hate-Fest that was aired on C-Span and one speaker said of the peace process, that it would be good for Israel because it could, "easily last for a couple of generations", and evidently that should suffice. After a couple generations who then needs the Jews around.

Thanks for all the comments.
I see that you agree; we must pressure the politicians here in Israel. They are the ones who must say: NO!
