No doubt that the earthquake in Haiti caused numerous children to be orphaned, but why are surviving parents being encouraged to send their children away? On the TV news they showed parents who gave their children to foreign organizations, because they're still too shell-shocked to care for them.
Some children were spirited away very soon after the earthquake. People all over the world were signing up to adopt Haitian children. I wonder if that's really a good idea.
For decades already, ever since the developed/western world has promoted birth control and easy access abortions, there aren't enough children available for adoption. Adoptions agencies rush to any country which may have children not being cared for. It's a business.
Is adoption really the best solution for the children?
Has every effort been made to search for family?
Can more be done to care for the survivors in Haiti itself?
Right now, more kids are displaced, since they were stopped at the border. They're neither in their Haitian home for a new one. The chaos must end. It's not good for the children.
