Why Don't We Hear More From Our Foreign Minister?

Is it my imagination, or has Israel's Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, been neither seen nor heard of late?

Shimon Peres, our elderly President seems to be doing the foreign diplomacy thing.  There's nobody to counteract his and Defense Minister Ehud Barak's loony Left policies.

It's not that I'm a great Lieberman fan, but there's no idiological balance between right and left in Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu's government coalition.

Today's news showed the top politicians being cute with the kids who started the school year.  Peres was dressed up to be a crossing guard, and Bibi was wearing a dark blue knit from the looks of it shirt, instead of his formal white for public appearances.

And Barak keeps repeating ad nauseum that to protect our country he must remove every Jewish house in Judea and Samaria which he deems illegal.  Strange, I thought that Defense Ministers were supposed to concentrate on protecting the country and destroying its enemies.

What do I know?  I'm just a boring old grandmother.

I wish Avigdor Lieberman would show up and say something I could agree with.  All the media and foreign busybodies would get upset...   Where is he?

It does seem odd that the government appears to be keeping Lieberman out of the loop and public eye. Maybe they're afraid he'll say something that they think will be a liability to Bibi's administration.

Maybe Lieberman is starting to buck the party line and they want him quiet?

Ah. The first day of school. I'm sure in the US we'll get Barack Obama and his girls Malia and Sasha at the school bus or black gov't limo ad nauseum too.

Re Bibi being cute--don't punch me:) I do think he's cute. He has those blue eyes and impish boyish grin; kind of like Dennis the Menace lol.

Going OT here but when I last saw Bibi on US TV a few days ago I noticed for the first time that he really doesn't have an Israeli accent. Is he a native Israeli?

He sounds so American except for a very slight huskiness to his voice when he talks in English. That plus being on US TV so often over the years is probably why Americans like him so much. Perhaps the reasons Israelis voted him to office. He's cute.

Reason enough to vote for him? Well, we made Barack Obama a GQ style celebrity and voted him president.

Keli, Lieberman is muzzled or his election campaign was no more than empty slogans.

Bibi spent a lot of time in the States so his American accent is stronger than his Israeli accent.

Lieberman is being kept quiet. We love his loose cannon - dugri - talk. But it might be too strong for the diplomatic world. It is sick to see the Defense Minister stick his nose into non-security issues. Liberman also has the police breathing down his neck so has been advise to stay out of the spotlights.

Behind the scenes he is still going strong. This week, it was publicized that a new rule will require foreign ministry candidates to have national service experience.

Good point, forgot about his legal problems.
Bibi spent a good portion of his childhood and education in the US.
