Everyone deals with death differently, and those differences are most obvious when it comes to the death of a child.
The Keinan's are not the only family in Shiloh who have buried a child, but they, or more specifically, Moshe, Avihu's father, is not embarrassed to mourn publicly.
A couple of weeks after Avihu was killed in a badly planned army action, Moshe led a a march from Shiloh to Jerusalem. It has become a Shiloh tradition.
Last night Moshe and Chana invited their Shiloh neighbors to a "Siyum," the celebration of Moshe's learning the entire "Shas."
Moshe explained that he had begun learning "Shas" in Avihu's memory, because they hadn't learned together when Avihu was alive. Each time he studied, he felt that Avihu was with him, as his study partner.
It was a lovely and very moving evening, as we listened to Moshe talk and sing, he's an excellent chazan, and we admired their baby grandson, Avihu-Chai.
