Recently the US media has been writing about serious problems in its military and the medical care given to injured veterans.
There are still people in Israel who think that everything in America is "better." I consider that most things are better here in Israel. One thing for sure is the medical care. Everyone has some sort of coverage. There isn't the trick where part-time workers aren't covered, so some employers purposely hire workers for just under full-time.
I'm not delusioned into thinking that everything's perfect here. I certainly have lots to complain about, but the US isn't any better.

when any system begins to get overloaded beyond its usual capacity, trouble usually begins
the US VA system has never been perfect, but when spikes have happened during the vietnam war and now, there have been shameful messes and general neglect
