Bill to institute 'Aliya Day' passes early voteHonestly, I have nothing against the general idea of "Aliya Day," but they should look at the calendar before announcing a date.
Legislation that would make the 10th of the Hebrew month of Nissan "Aliya Day" passed a preliminary reading in the Knesset Wednesday.
The bill would institute a day to mark immigration to Israel in schools, the IDF, the President's Residence, a special cabinet meeting and the Knesset.

More Idiocy from The Israeli Government
How dumb can they get? There will be no school celebration on 10th of Nissan since it part of Passover vacation!

Appears, this seems to be another way of diminishing the importance of real Jewish Torah Holidays. Aliya day, a secular 'holiday'? will overshadow the real thing. Agenda?????
Duh. The Exodus from Egypt was Aliyah.
I have nothing against an Aliyah Day. But what's the point of having it during the Passover vacation from school, just a couple of days before the most complex time on the Jewish Calendar, when everyone is stressed out between, shopping, cooking, cleaning or packing to go on vacation?
