This is why most local Arabs when answering polls say they want to be "part of Palestine" sic. They are terrified that any other answer can cause their death and the death of their families. The truth is that most Arabs are overjoyed at enjoying Israeli benefits, health, security, minimum wage, educational opportunities, social welfare benefits, modern infrastructure etc.
Evelyn Gordon wrote an interesting piece about how Israel's democracy is admired by the Arabs.
...Even the Palestinians themselves consistently voice admiration for Israeli democracy. From 1996-2002 (the last year the question was asked), Palestinian pollster Khalil Shikaki conducted annual polls of what governments Palestinians admired. “Every year Israel has been the top performer, at times receiving more than 80 percent approval,” the New York Times reported in 2003. “The American system has been the next best, followed by the French and then, distantly trailing, the Jordanian and Egyptian.” And that’s not because those years, in contrast to today, were a time of progress and optimism in the peace process: They were the years of Benjamin Netanyahu’s first government (1996-99), the collapse of the Camp David talks (2000) and the height of the second intifada (2000-03).Contrary to what the international and even the Israeli Left via the media and academia have been insisting, Arabs do not want to be dependent on an Arab government. I work with Arabs in Yafiz-Rami Levy, Sha'ar Binyamin. For the local Arabs even at minimum wage it's a good job, and many have been promoted to positions far better than the entry level minimum wage ones.
What’s truly astonishing about this admiration is that the Arab media is virulently anti-Israel, and routinely reports the wildest anti-Israel fabrications as fact. Hence most Arabs believe Israeli treatment of both Palestinians and Israeli Arabs to be much worse than the reality–and even so, they admire Israeli democracy....
When the Israeli Government destroys Jewish homes, like they did this week in Ma'ale Rachavam, they make everyone nervous and they show the Arabs that the Jewish Government can't be trusted. That strengthens terrorism.
At one point in the footage, residents can be seen being physically lifted from the area by groups of soldiers holding their arms and legs.
In a dramatic last minute turn of events, the security forces reportedly received an order from the Supreme Court cancelling the destruction at the last minute. However, the court reversed itself within an hour in another order commanding the forces to continue with the demolition.
A Defense Ministry spokesperson told AFP that 11 buildings were demolished, and that five of them had been inhabited.
Destroying Jewish homes and blocking the building of more homes weakens us in the eyes of the Arabs which makes Hamas, the Arab terror organization more attractive to them. That's because they become less certain that Israel will stay in Judea, Samaria, Jordan Valley etc. and they don't want an express ticket to an Arab jail.
If we stop negotiations, announce that there will never be a Palestinian State and declare Israeli autonomy over all of the Land we will enjoy true peace.
