Religion isn't my politics. There's lots more to the NU than religion and dati leumi supporters. That's why I'm turned off by what Hershkowitz wrote as the "subject" of the letter:
Emphasis mine. I've never supported an Israeli political party which is based on religion and marketed as religious or non-religious. I'm totally against such a thing in prinicple. I only vote for parties which understand the importance of a united Am Yisrael, People of Israel for Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel. That's the unification I look for. I also disagree with those in Hatikvah which think it should be the secular version of the NRP.
"Re: Political Unification of Religious Zionism"
Eretz Yisrael and Jewish Nationalism should unite us. It troubles me that the dati le'umi establishment is so knee-jerk against it.
There are quite a few Israelis who agree with me on this but see the Likud as the best political tool/party to unite Israelis. That may sound good in theory, but no party has destroyed more Jewish homes and communities in the Land of Israel than the Likud. Moshe Feiglin's premise that he can take over the Likud and make it truly nationalist party is mistaken. The Likud leadership is entrenched in its power-hungry Center-Leftist ideology. Principles and loyalty to the Land of Israel are very low in its list of priorities.
The polls show that Hershkowitz's party is sinking and may not even get into the next Knesset. That's why he's asking Ketzeleh to join him. I suggest that Hershkowitz return to his university career and admit that his beloved NRP is finished. The voters reject it and for good reason.

Hence Manhigut's stated goals of removing the Likud's current leadership.
What you said about the leadership is exactly the opposite of the opinions of the vast majority of Likud rank and file members as well as those who sit on the party's critical Central Committee.
Should the NRP be disbanded, Ketzeleh will get another 2, maybe 3 seats. Then what? Another dead end.
Actually, you should listen to Ketzeleh. He had a great idea just last week (article's in Hebrew).
Of course, brilliant Ketzeleh's idea is actually someone else's: Manhigut Yehudit's. But most important, Ketzeleh has no way of implementing it. Guess who can? If only the loyal Jews of Israel, like yourselves, would let them.
But you all go right ahead and be proud of hollering from the opposition bench while the country continues to dive in a tailspin. You'll show 'em!
Shy, Feiglin is getting no where in his quest to change Likud leadership. His position is worse than ever, since the jobs go according to Vitamin P.
Did you see how Leiberman got all those votes? They could have gone to a Feiglin-NU along with all the people like your votes.
That's the party people are looking for to give their votes.
Manhigut can't get anywhere as long as all the people keep saying Manhigut can't get anywhere. That's a fact.
Feiglin's position does not depend on a Knesset seat. It depends on how much support he has within the Likud. And there's plenty there - all to be potentially lost for the honor of being purebreds in the opposition again and again.
National Union can't get anywhere as long as all the people keep saying National Union can't get anywhere. That's a fact.
Feiglin may have some support in the rank and file, but the movers and shakers in Likud just throw him around.
I appreciate what Feiglin is doing but unfortunately, the rest of the Likud is not interested. The vast majority of members are non-religious who think they are right-wing, but their main claim to fame is a massive inferiority complex brought on by many years of always playing second fiddle to 'Avoda'.
From a non-religious friend inside the Likud; they don't want Feiglin, he is ruining their chance for getting into the mass media spotlight of the mainstream.
Instead of Likud members striving to dump the two tabloids Yediot and Maariv who are always against the Likud, they continue to want to suck up to them.
Feiglin can't win no matter what. On the other hand, The same way Marzel and Rabbi Wolpe gave Ben Ari the first place in their party, if Feiglin would move out of the first place of MY in the next primaries, then MY would do better. At the end of the day, Feiglin will need to show that the effort is more important than his seat in the Knesset.
Josh, good points, but you also don't realize that the MK list isn't the real power. It's the administration of Likud, and Bibi worked hard between his two administrations to take it over. That's how he so easily vetoed the primary results. There's no way that Feiglin's people can undo it and take it over.
Shalom!
I hope we all remember what happened when the NU bailed out the NRP and agreed to let the NRP join them - a net loss of votes. The Jewish Home - such a misnomer! - should go home and stop being an embarrassment to their constituency.
Feiglin should leave the Likud, take the right-wingers with him and join the NU. Then with all the right-wingers out of the Likud, it'll be obvious to anyone who cares that it's a left-wing party.
Feiglin has already wasted far too much time and money in the Likud. Not to mention the fact that he told everyone to vote for the Likud this past election, even though MY achieved nothing in the primaries.
Hadassa, we women should be running things. The men just don't get it.
