For 50G's

Hat tip, Jewlicious

Many American towns and cities are named for Biblical places. In those places, there are no laws preventing Jews from living and thriving. Not far from my parents is a Jericho, where unlike in the real article, there is a Jewish community.

As you know, I live in Shiloh, BibleLand, which bothers the American government. The American State Department doesn't want Jews living in our Holy City. I'm not interested in living in any of the imitation Shiloh's, like in California, Alabama, Florida Georgia or more.

In Alabama, there's a small city named Dothan, which has a Jewish community that is trying to beef itself up by offering a $50,000 package for Jews to settle there. The original Dothan/Dotan is a Biblical site. It's where Joseph's brothers sold him.

Now, I think that Jews should live in Israel, the HolyLand, Bible Land, and I find it very ironic that davka, Dotan is offering money. If you're interested in Dotan, why settle for the imitation? There's a Jewish community in the Shomron, Mevo Dotan.

Going to Alabama is like settling for rhinestones instead of diamonds.

Shalom!
Perhaps a representative of NBN or Tehila should go and speak to them about relocating the entire community to Israel, not necessarily in Yosh.

Ahhh, nice, but you know it won't happen. They'd probably discover that the head of the community doesn't even have halachik decendents.

Yes, I know. Rav Kahane tried decades ago with the elderly in poor neighborhoods and no-one wanted to leave NYC.
Lack of halachic descendants, though unfortunate, isn't a problem. It's the lack of ancestors that's a problem.

P.S Do you think they'll have any takers?

The US is in a recession, and for some families the offer will help.

How does the community of Dothan have so much money? They're trying to attract a lot more than just one family.
Do you think that the recession will encourage Jews to come to Israel? They should all pack up their worldly possessions while they still can and make the move.

Some of the southern Jewish communities had lots of wealthy people.
Americans don't go to Israeli when they have financial problems and they don't go to Israel when the economy is strong. That's because they don't want to go to Israel, with few exceptions...
