"Tzedek, Tzedek," is one of the most famous phrases from this week's Parshat Shavua, Torah Portion of the Week.
On Shabbat, we read "Shoftim," Judges. We read it every year. Yes, that's what we do with our Torah. It's divided so that it takes a year to complete reading it. We go over the "same material," year after year, but somehow each year it seems new and relevant.
Ironically, this week's news is filled with news about justice. Will Olmert be judged according to Israeli law? We keep hearing that he is guilty of all sorts of crimes, but so far it's business as usual for our Teflon or is it now silicon-coated Prime Minister.
I have no doubt that in the end G-d will judge him, but his lack of punishment in this world is a bad lesson for our youth.
Maybe I'm just too impatient.

I dunno, Batya, websites are already talking about how much time he's gonna get:
NFC mentions up to 3 years, but Arutz 7 [Hebrew] says up to 9.
Looks like they've finally caught up with ole Ollie, after all!
Yitz, I'm a pragmatist.
Just like his cancer didn't need treatment and his resignation didn't make him leave office, I don't consider him jailed until they lock him up.
He will get zero time. Once he leaves office, the leftist circus will leave hime alone. His so called charges are so minor. The only reason the left hammers on him is that in all reality, he has done absoulutly nothing towards a
"palestinian state". (Even those words make me nausous as it is such a lie). One thing, give him credit for is yes, he's mr. teflon, and that's promising our great friends (american gov't) how much he will bring "peace with the palestinians and create a homeland for them" bla bla bla bla and delivers a big fat nothing. Wait until this livni get's in, condi's puppet. She will cause hell for us, that is for certain.
Batya, do you a couple named Noam and Ronit S. ? out there by Shiloh?
Shiloh, you may be right, unfortunately.
I don't know all the young couples, sorry.
Thought I would ask. All the best. What makes me nervous right now is the calm.
no harm
You're right about the calm, considering what we discovered from the war two years ago.
Shalom!
What jail sentence was Omri Sharon given and how much time did he actually serve?
The jail sentence was pitiful - I forget exactly how long - and after nine months he was set free to do community service, which I'm sure was very cushy.
G-d took care of his father for us. (Although there are some interesting unanswered questions about his medical care before his last stroke.)
Shiloh is right. (Call the mazkirut if you're looking for a resident. If their number isn't unlisted, they'll probably give it to you or at least give your number to them.)
I doubt we'll ever see Olmert behind bars, probably out of office, but not behind bars.
Hadassa
Yes, hadassa, so true. The left never gets the same punishment the Right gets.
