Again he repeated that he's the best friend Israel has ever had. He said it without a warm smile nor a kind friendly voice. The look and tone were more like:
agree with me or you die
But much worse was the way he framed the problem with Iran. It sounds more like he considers Iran's nuclear program to be Israel's problem and he stressed how he understands that Israel can't allow it to continue. As "the leader of the free world," he is not leading. Obama has thrown the responsibility of policing the world onto little Israel. For the United States, diplomatic sanctions are still the weapon of choice.
And I must say, there was not a lot of applause. But it was the right thing to do. And as a result, today there is no doubt anywhere in the world that the United States will insist upon Israel's security and legitimacy. That will be true as we continue our efforts to pursue in the pursuit of peace. And that will be true when it comes to the issue that is such a focus for all of us today: Iran's nuclear program a threat that has the potential to bring together the worst rhetoric about Israel's destruction with the world's most dangerous weapons.
Let's begin with a basic truth that you all understand: no Israeli government can tolerate a nuclear weapon in the hands of a regime that denies the Holocaust, threatens to wipe Israel off the map and sponsors terrorist groups committed to Israel's destruction. And so I understand the profound historical obligation that weighs on the shoulders of Bibi Netanyahu and Ehud Barak and all of Israel's leaders.
A nuclear-armed Iran is completely counter to Israel's security interests. But it is also counter to the national security interests of the United States.
Indeed, the entire world has an interest in preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. A nuclear-armed Iran would thoroughly undermine the nonproliferation regime that we've done so much to build. There are risks that an Iranian nuclear weapon could fall into the hands of a terrorist organisation. It is almost certain that others in the region would feel compelled to get their own nuclear weapon, triggering an arms race in one of the world's most volatile regions. It would embolden a regime that has brutalised its own people, and it would embolden Iran's proxies, who have carried out terrorist attacks from the Levant to southwest Asia...
...Sanctions are continuing to increase, and this July thanks to our diplomatic coordination a European ban on Iranian oil imports will take hold. Faced with these increasingly dire consequences, Iran's leaders still have the opportunity to make the right decision.
Yes, he does follow with mentioning that Iran is a danger to the world, but it's secondary to Iran as Israel's problem.
Remember that speeches are words, and United States Presidential speeches are the products of teams of professionals who take into account what impression they want their president to make. They are not policy makers. Their job is to construct a speech that will receive applause and please the audience. Obama has a very good speech-writing staff, but it's still possible to see the holes in his agenda, at least when it comes to what I think is most important for Israel, the United States and for the world.

it's beyond a joke. He chastises israel like a surrogate mother given tochacha to a toddler for misbehaving. I believe he is a plotter against Israel and will receive his due just from Hashem. Moshiach is coming very soon and he will not be able to hide for much longer.
He thinks he is wonderful, yet does not realize just what a cog in the wheel he is.
Israel cannnot rely on the leader of any nation. We can only rely on Hashem. He will destroy our enemies and He will bring peace. Obama is only one of many enemies among the nations. Who in the 1st world stands by Israel? Who among the so-called 'cultured' nations recongnizes Israel's right to not only defend herself but destroy Iran? Let me share a story with you. Even in the Orthodox world there are those who are brainwashed by their PHD's. We are currently without a rabbi so one of the members gave the drash. Last weeks parsha was Zechor - that we remember Amalek. He started out by reminding us of Milgram;s experiment and relating it to the Holocaust:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram_experiment
Meaning that anyone of us could have been in the Nazi's shoes firing at innocent Jews standing at the edge of a mass grave if we had permission of authority. He then went on to state in outraged tones that we are to wipe out Amalek - including BABIES!! He lectured on and on about how we are Jews and we don't do this. It took everything I had in me not to stand up and walk out. I resent being lectured by liberal Jews on Shabbos. This is why we are in the position we are in - unsure of the next step because the world sees us as something to be sacrificed for their hollow ideals. G-d help us and save us from ourselves.
Leah, yes, G-d willing
a, it's dangerous when not even the "rabbi" understands the Torah and Haftara. YOu should have walked out.
