In an ironic sense, should we be thankful for Bibi's ten month building freeze and threat of more for lighting a fire under contractors and private citizens here in Judea and Samaria? L'havdil, to differentiate--it's different, I think of all the communities, like Shvut Rachel just to the east of us, established as a response to Arab terrorists murdering innocent Jews. If only we had built those communities earlier, would our friends and family still be alive? That thought haunts me. I guess it always will. Rachella Druk's grandchildren only know pictures, stories and a grave in the Shiloh Cemetery.
But I must be joyful at the amount of building going on here in Shiloh and other communities. Families are coming from all over the country to buy homes here. They like the location, easy traveling to both Jerusalem and the Petach Tikva-Hod Hasharon area. We're also just minutes from the Jordan Valley. And we have schools and all sorts of activities. There are also stores, food, clothes and toys. And for those lucky enough to feel, to sense it, the spirit of Biblical Chana and the Ketoret are here, too.

Shimshonit had a post complaining about the lack of building in Efrat because they don't have permits. I commented that in smaller yishuvim we are building like crazy, and in my opinion it is more important to strenghthen the smaller yishuvim rather than the larger ones. Places like Maaleh Adumim, Gush Etzion, Beitar Ilit and Modiin Ilit are already in the "consensus" and Ariel is almost there. The smaller places aren't yet - and the chilonim numbers are the key.

wbm, to me "consensus" is a dirty word. I think it's bad to divide up Judea and Samaria.
There must be technical (paper work) reasons why Shiloh is buildingt and Efrat not. Some of the building has been Amana. The land was approved for building years ago. The Gush Shiloh area has a lot of govt land. It's easier to build on.

van, Shiloh, and it's a new part of a newish neighborhood. Second floor is an extra option for more money. I don't know who bought the house.

I agree. Let's not use the word consensus, but say that the larger a community is, the less likely it is to be put on the chopping block.
van, I'm not sure of prices, but they are less than the price of a small apartment in a good Jerusalem neighborhood.
