Time for Israel to Leave the United Nations

Now, in all honesty, what good has the State of Israel ever gotten from the United Nations?

For the gazillionth time, Israel is being condemned as if it's the most evil state in the universe.
Israel has accused a senior U.N. official of misconduct in preparing a report that harshly criticized the Israeli army over the 2014 Gaza war while leaving it off a blacklist of states and armed groups that violate children's rights in conflict.
The U.N. Security Council will hold a public debate on Thursday to discuss the latest United Nations report on children and armed conflict.
In it, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said "the unprecedented and unacceptable scale of the impact on children in 2014 raises grave concerns about Israel's compliance with international humanitarian law ... (and) excessive use of force." (Reuters)

And again, there are Israeli government officials who complain, but nothing is ever done about it. There's some mutterings periodically, but nobody makes policy change.

There's only one simple policy change that would make sense. Cancel our membership in that hotbed of pro-terrorist hypocrisy! Israel should have left the United Nations a very long time ago!!

There is no hasbara, information campaign or "rebranding" tricks that can change the views of those diplomats and countries who are offended at our self-defense and victories.

Get real and leave!

This has been my view for a long time.

Israel would be better off without the UN. The Jew of the nations isn't going to be liked being where he is not wanted.

Let the Islamic-Arab bloc have the UN. Israel is meant to dwell alone among the nations.

That is its destiny.

Batya Medad great article. I'v also been saying this for years that Israel should leave the U.N.

Also remember this.
When Israel arrested Eichmann from Argentina in 1960, the U.N had an emergency meeting and demanded that Israel return Eichmann back to Argentina. The U.N and all the Arab countries said it was against International law to kidnap Eichmann from Argentina.
The U.N actually demanded Israel send Eichmann back to Argentina.

The U.N also condemned Israel for the Entebee rescue in 1976 against Palestinian terrorists and said the rescue of Israeli civilians was against international law.

The U.N also condemned Israel for the bombing of Iraq’s nuclear facility in 1981.
The U.N was probably upset that Saddam couldn’t use atomic weapons against the the Kurds instead of gassing them.

I couldn't agree more! I've always felt Israel should and needs to pull out of the UN.

Israel would not remain in that U.N fetid swamp of antisemitism unless the advantages of leaving outweighed disadvantages.

It is easy for you to call for Israel to get out of the U.N. What is your analysis of the pros and cons of leaving the UN that concludes that the pros have it and Israel can and should for its own best interests leave the UN.

I am most interested in your response. I am not sure how this works with the 4 options for choose an identity, so I took the easiest in my mind Anonymous. Let's see if this works.

These countries are offended by Jews simply existing in the world. Self defense and military victories are just red herrings.

Dan, Keli, Baruch, yes and thanks.
a, we will be better off not paying for our enemies to abuse us. All those countries that gang up on Israel and vote for the anti_Israel resolutions are our enemies.

If we tell them to "shove off" we'd get more respect.

The broader problem here is that there's no public transparency or public accountability at the United Nations. The United Nations does not allow public feedback. The United Nations does not keep thorough, accessible public records of what it exactly does. To the contrary, it holds itself above the public, while watchdogs and reporters have to pry their way into its business in order to get informed on what it is really doing.

No wonder the United Nations--our overlords--feels free to scapegoat Israel.

So, really, one of the best things which you and The Jerusalem Post in general can do is highlight this issue and continually beat the drum on it.

I do my best, thanks.
The decisions of the Security Council and General Assembly sure show how awful and evil democracy can by.

Perhaps you may have visited this street in Jerusalem -- https://goo.gl/maps/rRhVV

Now, I wonder why it has that name....?

That doesn't give the UN ownership over us. It was over 65 years ago and since then they have just conspired to destroy us.

The UN does serve a purpose, at least to those politicians who get there egos stroked. Kind of like those Jews who get mental orgasms when they say "Please, love me" to the world & get a bone thrown their way.

The UN is an officious forum where antisemites justify their immorality and gang up on Israel with officious-sounding faux legalities.
