President sic Abbas: "World Must Recognize 1967 Borders Reference for Negotiations." So, nu, if that's the case, what's the point of negotiations?

Hat tip IMRA

As I've blogged previously, I've been watching a series of old World War Two newsreels and documentaries on the same subject with my father.  It's outrageous, unbelievable and frightening to think of how totally and tragically incompetent and unrealistic the American military and politicians were until they were attacked.  Even when the masses of Japanese planes were spotted flying to Hawaii, the "experts" ordered the observers to "disregard."  Just like Yom Kippur 1973!

There are times one shouldn't obey orders!

And even though Hitler kept repeating that Germany is going to take over the world, Europe kept negotiating "peace in our time."

President sic Abbas: "World Must Recognize 1967 Borders Reference for Negotiations."  Is anyone in the Israeli Government, Military etc listening to him?

We can't keep relying on miracles.

and should read"The Land and the Book: Southern Palestine and Jerusalem" published in 1882." which states that there were barely any life in this country at that time.. so no Palestinians who have "been here for centuries"
and just to add that mark Twain came in 1867 and said that the land was deserted and swampy.. and that the Jewish ppl are the ONLY ones that have withstood the test of time.

Just in case Mr. Anonymous has doubts.

It's an open secret that they want it all. The whole Land of Israel. They are sworn to the brilliant 'stages plan', but their unexpected and quicker than expected success might be going to their head. They kicked us out of Gaza within five years of battle and now they are going for all of Judea and Samaria before they take it to the next stage - all of Israel. One state - two people.

So Abu Mazen made a Freudian slip and basically mentioned that at this stage of the negotiations they won't agree to anything less than 67 borders, before going to the next step - refugees and land or compensation for 1948 land.

In the meantime, our leaders will continue to play with themselves and make painful concessions (with themselves) to show the world that we are serious at negotiations when in fact A) we are giving everything away without negotiations and B) the world is not accepting anything less than we give up everything.

a, what's the point? With a knife at our jugular it would be too late.

creativem3, you're right!

josh, it has never been a secret as far as the arabs are concerned. Just the Appease Peace Now crowd doesn't want the public to know the truth.

Don't worry, they (the arabs) are just getting warmed up. The water is barely luke warm.

oy. i never said they should get it, i just said that this would be something they would negotiate for.
although, judging from american aliya, it would be no big deal to allow a right of return for the palestinians, since we can be pretty sure they will not return...

a, don't be so sure, confident, complacent...
