Israel was Established to Be The Jewish State

Honestly, I don't understand what the hullabaloo is all about concerning the Jewish Nation-State Law. The State of Israel was established for one reason only, to be a Jewish State, THE JEWISH STATE.

The State of Israel is the modern revival of ancient kingdoms, which are documented in the Bible. That is the very same Bible which not only is the basis for Judaism, but it is also recognized as accurate and holy for Christians. That is the very same Bible which which is used by western countries for swearing honesty, in court and important ceremonies.

The Jewish Religion and Prayers repeat over and over that Jerusalem is the holiest city and we pray to return to it in all its glory.

Jews from all over the diaspora have followed the same religion for two thousand years.

Jews have always made an effort to return to or visit the Land of Israel, the Holyland. This is all very well documented.

During the over two thousand years since the destruction of our Second Holy Temple, discrimination, banning of Judaism and killing of Jews took place all over the world. The Spanish Inquisition and the Nazi Holocaust are well-known examples of that. But actually it continues today in almost all Arab countries. They are judenrein, cleansed of Jews, even in those countries that once had vibrant Jewish communities.

Modern Zionism is just the political version of the religious return to the Land of Israel. The foundations of the State of Israel, political and economic began with that movement, which coincided with the rise of European nationalism in the nineteenth 19th century.

There is nothing actually new or revolutionary in the Jewish Nation-State Law. It just restates the obvious. Israel is the Jewish State and was established in the Biblical Land of Israel for that very purpose. I, like many others, left the Christian United States of America, because I wanted to live in the Jewish State, no other. If someone here in Israel doesn't want to live in the Jewish State, they can just look for a country that fits their national and religious identity. I with them luck in their new life.

MY RESPONSE:

Maybe the best explanation is these two quick quotes:

Yes, Dershowitz is correct concerning the world outside of Israel, but why is there controversy from Jews here?

"...why is there controversy from Jews here?" and "...I don't understand what the hullaballoo is all about...?"

It used to be unwritten and assumed that Israel is the Jewish State. But we were forced by the nations to keep the Arabs here and assure their civil rights, making things downright dangerous right from the start.

Things have advanced since then, and now we're expected to assure their political rights as well, and also those of other religions who live here. Life without the Jewish-State-as-Basic-Law allowed certain government bodies to get away with anti-Jew actions right here at home.

Batya, you might remember the days when people shook hands over a business deal and expected the terms to be honored. I don't, but I heard a lot about them. It seems that making the fact of the Jewish State a Basic Law could help us get unstuck from a bad deal because it has its rightful place in our legal documentation. It is at least a step in the right direction.

I haven't seen any meaningful opposition from the nations against this step. One can only hope and pray that we can follow through.

Good comment, CDG. There is a worldwide effort to 'deJudaize' Israel and make it a mini U.S., c'v. Remember when the vulture together with all his cohorts how they want to make Israel, forgot how they put it, the business, tech, etc., center of the middle east. Nothing whatsoever to do with Jews, Torah, our Land, etc. The nations of the world and the Erev Rav within our midst made a deal a long time ago to undo Torah and Judaism in Eretz Yisrael and then do away with all Jews. They know they can't win over by wars, so they're working from within to do all they can to take away every vestige of Yiddishkeit in E.Y. That is why it is necessary to make it a law that Israel is the Land of ONLY the Jews. Otherwise, maybe this is H's way the 'state' will undo itself and that's how we'll get all of Eretz Yisrael. Remember Moshiach is on his way!

CDG, actually the pressure came from the zionist Left to find a way to live peacefully with Arabs here. Not long ago, I watched the iconic movie Exodus, which is a rather romanticized view of the establishment of the state. And recently I began reading another book from that time, more of a non-fiction. Simultaneously with the aim for a Jewish state, there was a contradictory and "utopian" aim to make the Arabs feel welcome.

persons who didn't understand how the Nationality Law was born to be a slap in the face to the Druz'im, should confine themselves to convincing Satmar'im to enlist in the IDF.

Batya: It's true and I find that the Left is always the ones who promote the right things for the wrong reasons and maybe that's the way things get done but with great and unnecessary hardship; whereas, the Right promise all the right things but wind up being the ones who destroy the good things they promote. Very strange but maybe that's why everything we attain in the Land of Israel is through sweat, blood and tears. Always an uphill battle.

It's not a slap in the face to Druze. They are a minority and given rights. They serve and should serve in the army just like American Jews serve in the American armed forces. When you live in a country, you must defend it.

i'll mention to the Druze, that you know their situation better than they do.

> serve in the army just like American Jews serve in the American armed forces

Can you name 5 living Jewish persons from your family in America, who have served in the USA Armed Forces?

Alan, what are you talking about? First, don't forget that the Jews are a great 'minority' (about 5 million in a country of about 350 million) in the U.S. (of course, everwhere, Jews are a minority) and evenso, they have quite a number of Jews serving in the armed forces now, as has been from the very beginning of the creation of the USA.

so, that's 1 in 70, which is 1.43%

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_Jewish_Americans > "The Jewish Chaplains Council estimated that there are currently 10,000 known Jewish servicemen and servicewomen on active duty"

http://www.governing.com/gov-data/military-civilian-active-duty-employee-workforce-numbers-by-state.html > There were a total of 1.3 million active duty military and more than 800,000 reserve forces as of September 2017, according to Defense Department personnel data.

so: 10,000 Jews in 2.1 million people who carry a valid US Military ID card

that is much less than half a percent

Perhaps if you had gone to, not even an actual "University" but merely just a regional "Academic College" in Israel..... you would know how to count.

By the way, Anonymous, can you name 5 living persons in YOUR immediate family who have served in the US Armed Forces?

I am ===currently=== Active Duty on a US Navy ship. I know who's out here, and it ain't American Jews.

Alan, today's volunteer US army is made up of youth who join because of the benefits and education for a trade or profession they will have when they are through with their service. Young educated men today of all religions, races, etc. do not join the military that fast. But, Jews have always maintained a normal number in the US military according to their numbers within the population, no matter what statistics you put out. Religious Jews do not join if they are Torah learners nor do the typical university students, but the same goes for non-Jews.
