Jerusalem Day Havel Havelim

Chag Sameach! It's Jerusalem Day. Forty-eight 48 years ago, against all odds aka miraculously, the IDF liberated the area of Jerusalem that had been illegally occupied by Jordan since 1948. And not only that, Israel was victorious in a war that had been expected to result in Israel's destruction. While the world stood by watching, and Jews all over prayed, Israel defeated three enemy armies, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Israel also ended up liberating the Golan Heights, Sinai and all of the land to the Jordan River! For this we are celebrating!

Let us not neglect Yom Shichrur Hevron, the day of the liberation of Hevron, the day after Jerusalem Day. Dr. Hagi Ben-Artzi, fabled teacher of Jewish history in many colleges, wrote a small book in Hebrew, "Megillat Sheshet Yamim", last year or the year before. When he spoke here in Kochav Hashachar he mentioned that the victory of the Six-Day War, including the magnitude of miracles, volume of conquest and speed, is a greater accomplishment than the conquest of Yehoshua, which took 14 years compared to six days. He says that he says Hallel all the six days, not just Jerusalem Day.

good point, goyish. In Ofra they made a movie about the men in the unit that liberated it in 1967.
