The Revenge of Barack Hussein Obama

I honestly hope that this is the last post on this topic, at least for awhile. I'm sick of it, but it is important and still in the headlines.

Only someone with their head in the ground or purposely blinding themselves from the truth can say with any honesty that the United States President Barack Hussein Obama treats Israel fairly.

Obama has been trying to dictate not only policy, but Israeli election results. This unprecedented and unabashed interference goes against all diplomatic norms and even American Law.

Apparently Obama's interpretation of "close security partnership" with Israel means that he has the right to dictate Israeli policy:
The White House, unmoved by Netanyahu’s effort to backtrack, delivered a fresh rebuke against him on Thursday and signaled that Washington may reconsider its decades-old policy of shielding close ally Israel from international pressure at the United Nations.
An official statement put out later in the day said Obama called Netanyahu to congratulate him on his election win and used the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to a two-state solution, a longtime cornerstone of U.S. policy on the Middle East conflict.
But Obama also delivered a blunt message that underscored the seriousness of the U.S.-Israel rift. "The president told the prime minister that we will need to reassess our options following the prime minister's new positions and comments regarding the two-state solution," the White House official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest warned earlier that there would be “consequences” for Israel as the Obama administration monitors the formation of Netanyahu's new ruling coalition. (Reuters)
This is outrageous!!

The Israeli electorate voted for the Likud and rejected Obama's pets Herzog and Livni. Netanyahu's late surge in popularity was, davka, after he gave the impression that he was not going to support the establishment of a new Arab state, Palestine sic, in the heart of the Land of Israel. Israeli voters who fell for his carefully worded statement and voted Likud instead of Bayit Yehudi or Yachad feel cheated, since now Bibi has, no surprise, backtracked to placate the Americans.

I think that the time has come for Israel to admit that we don't have a friend in Washington DC. It's highly recommended to read the Editorial in Commentary Magazine,  A Statement on the Crisis in the U.S.—Israel Relationship.
...The president’s displeasure and rage continued to grow, to the point that a few days before the speech, no less a personage than National Security Adviser Susan Rice said it would be “destructive of the fabric of the relationship” between the United States and Israel. On the day of the speech, the Democratic Middle East operative Martin Indyk declared on CNN that it was “the saddest and most tragic day” for the relationship in all his 35 years as a water-carrier.In this case, we fear, the wish is father to the threat. Susan Rice and Martin Indyk see the relationship between Israel and the United States on a downward spiral because they and their boss want it so. Obama does not like the special status Israel seems to enjoy in the United States—not only because its particularistic and nationalist claim offends him ideologically, but because Israel’s popularity with the American people limits his freedom of action.... Think about it!

The big problem , I think, is that Obama and maybe Kerry were resting their hopes for Middle East policy on some kind of agreement being negotiated within the next year or less - because that's what some Arab states told them was necessary in order for them to do X - or to be able to fight "violent extremism"

They were being lied to and didn't know it.

Andrea Mitchell to Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday

Certainly Israeli voters, your supporters, believe you were re-elected on a mandate against a two-state solution.

That's incorrect, but the truth may be even worse for Obama to accept.

Benjamin Netanyahu was re-elected on a mandate against any "solution" in the immediate future.

Davka -

Naftali Bennett has demanded that Netanyahu's pledge not to establish a Palestinian Arab state become part of the coalition agreement.

It can't make matters worse with the US and Europe because nothing would satisfy them short of an outright Israeli capitulation.

Being a sovereign country means Israel has the right to pursue its own national interests as it sees fit. What they are is not for Obama or Mogherini to decide.
