For some strange reason, davka today when I was in Jerusalem the views seemed so different, as if buildings had suddenly sprouted like Jack's beanstalk.
I have heard it said that the building work is a sign of Geulah, that it means people will live in Jerusalem to be around when Mashiach arrives. Same with train line building, they help people travel to Jerusalem.
LM, true but a lot of the structures going up are ugly and misplaced and over-budget. Plus Jerusalem is just plain dirty, unkempt and poorly maintained.
So until the Mashiach arrives, there's no reason we shouldn't try to improve our esthetics while we build and grow.

Recall visiting Isarel last year. Remember thinking Tel-Aviv begins to resemble Manhattan. Now Jerusalem begins to resemble Tel-Aviv.
Of course I'm kidding. Jerusalem will always remain unique, no matter how many high-rises kiss the Jewish sky.
