There's something awfully דפוק dafook (fokokt) in the Israeli psyche. Why else would our
Honestly, I'm pretty tired of blogging this same message over and over. Am I only speaking/writing/blogging "to the converted?"
Israel and "the Arabs" don't have a "disagreement." We don't need mediation. It won't help or "resolve the issues." The situation is much more serious. Simply put:
The Arabs want Israel destroyed, dead and gone.
I feel like a broken record...

Batya,
By avoiding all talk of "peace" with the Arabs, one might think, would be saving our breathe. But, of course, it has profoundly greater impact than merely saving one's breathe; It has disastrous impact! The very act of SPEAKING ABOUT giving up any of our rights to the Holy Land AUTOMATICALLY draws with it danger to life. TALKING about giving anything up, in and of itself, has the consequence of endangering human life in Israel, G-d forbid. This is not me saying this - these are the words of the Rebbe having been repeated on numerous occasions. Here, I merely am the Rebbe's mouthpiece.
van, not clear
for or against?
Which "Rebbe"? There are and were lots of Rebbes.
One can simply go back to the source, the Torah, for the prohibition to give away any part of Eretz Yisrael.
See Sefer Hachinuch, Mitzvah 339 on Vayikra 25:23.
Shy, yes, and still are.
Batya, just saying that even talk (of negotiating), in and of itself, brings risk to life, as the Rebbe often stated. Talk of giving up land, even without any land being given over, in itself spurs our enemy and gives them impetus for further attacks.
Shy Guy, the Rebbe goes one step further; Not only is prohibition of giving up land impermissible, but TALK of it TOO is impermissible. As for your question of which central luminary, search on.
I've searched and this would be the Ramban. Hey! His acronym even almost sounds like "Rebbe"!
Sadly, I think you are just blogging to "the converted", because the only people who would come to any pro-Israel blog without already being Zionists are those who are looking for evidence of our brutality/racism/apartheid/whatever, who are so set against Israel that nothing, no amount of evidence, will make them believe that the Arabs simply want us all dead and Israel destroyed. Whatever far-fetched parody of a response you can think of, however ridiculous it might sound, sooner or later that is what you'll find people saying against Israel/Zionists. The truly devastating thing is how many Israeli-born Jews are among the people spouting such nonsense. I don't understand it at all, and I'm a secular left-winger (on everything except Israel, where I am apparently in alignment with "right-wing extremists" aka people who have a realistic understanding of the situation). All you can do is keep saying it, I suppose; just because the truth isn't being listened to doesn't mean we should stop telling it.
Shira, I send my posts to Havel Havelim to try to give them wider exposure. Of course I can't expect everything to be included. Just keep sending them around and hoping that someone will read and be influenced.
Batya, I think I found you through Haveil Havelim actually! I send links to people who I think might be receptive, and I often read posts from you and various other bloggers eg Elder of Ziyon and the Muqata to my husband, who had no knowledge at all of the Israel-Arab conflict before he met me. My family don't know what's going on unless I tell them, because they live in the UK where the news won't say anything unless it can be twisted against Israel, and they don't read much online, so the information they get now comes from your blog and others, via me. Mostly I find that the people I know who say they support Israel don't want to hear too much about what's going on, because if they think about it they'll realise that it's getting less and less safe to be Jewish in Europe, particularly in the UK where my family and friends are, and Ireland, where I am, and where saying anything pro-Israel is a sure way to find oneself denounced as a racist and ostracised. I expect to lose a lot of friends when I make aliyah, and that'll be sad, but I want to live in a place where it's not impossible to find people who understand that the Arabs don't want peace.
Shira, thanks so much for writing. It's comments like yours that keep me going.
