Chodesh Tamuz Tov

On Shabbat we blessed the upcoming new month, Rosh Chodesh, ראש חודש.

I suggest clicking on the pictures from the siddur to get a better look. The lines I underlined gave me quite a thrill this month. It's about the "ingathering of the exiles," the fact that Jewish People from all over the world are returning to the Land of Israel and to Judaism. We see it here all the time.

Judaism is a religion, which is also a Nation/People with a Land, but we are not a "race." We are dark, light, African, Asian, every single solitary color and height. No physical aspect defines us as Jews. The two thousand years in the diaspora may have varied our looks, but we have the same religion, Torah, holidays, heritage, moledet/homeland and calendar.

This year there's a two day Rosh Chodesh Tamuz, Wednesday and Thursday, and the women who come to Shiloh to pray at the Site of the Mishkan, Biblical Tabernacle have chosen Wednesday, the 30th of Sivan 5778 for our group prayers.

When we open our Tanach to Sefer Shmuel Aleph,
chapter 20, verse 5, we see that the righteous Jonathan
and his father, the righteous King Saul, ate a special
meal in honor of Rosh Chodesh.

However, I was not able to find the exact phrase
Rosh Chodesh” anywhere in Tanach.

If you want, you can mention this to the righteous
ladies of the Shiloh women’s prayer group.

SUMMARY: This article exposes intentional
anti-Israel bias in the news media. It is still
VERY relevant, even though it was written in 2014.

Gd willing we'll do better than your "righteous King Saul."

Shalom Batya,

The siddur you quote from looks very much like the Artscroll "Kol Yaakov" one that we use in our shul. I like that version, it has a nice, clean Hebrew script that's easy to read.
