Dumb Question: If it's Dangerous to Hitchhike Because of Arabs, Then How Could They be Trusted to Make Peace?

I'll word it differently:
If we can't trust that they won't prey on us to kill us, then how can we trust them as "partners in peace," sic?

There's something very off in many people's thinking. On one hand, they are willing to give Arabs land, independence and sovereigntyright here in the heartland of Israel. That they think can be done. They insist that Mahmoud Abbas who has just joined forces with Hamas is reliable and trustworthy. They insist that he is the "peace partner" we've  (not me, but the politicians and media) always dreamed of.

So I just don't understand how we can make peace with him but we can't travel freely by foot, car or tremping where his followers  may pass.

They key of course is in the idea that hitchhiking is dangerous because of the Arabs...you never ever hear of hitchhikers being kidnapped by Jews, that means that its not the act of hitchhiking that is dangerous but the Arabs who are free to go wherever they want that are the danger.

That's why I don't understand why you guys insist on living there... If I had an enemy, I would stay away...

a, exactly
bloc, should we give up our Land and homes? Should we be holed up behind walls with guards like in many other countries?
The more we are out in strength and confidence the safer we actually are.

Israel has never fought a war to victory. Israel has fought a war to cease-fire. It is high time we responded to a lethal attack with a demand for unconditional surrender followed by reconstruction of Arab society with removal of the infrastructure of kleptocracy and schools for terror. It will be safe for Jews to go wherever they want when the Arabs start to fear us. Instead stupid liberals want to try to make them love us. It doesn't work and hasn't for 100 years.

We had a victory in June 1967 but we destroyed it by treating it as a ceasefire.

Believe there was never any intention of victory; only ceasefire. Orders come from outside; the state was never really sovereign and will only be sovereign when Moshiach comes. (In the interim, H' gave us many miracles, but we threw it in His face, so to speak). Nothing really goes right unless Israel lives by the guidance of Torah in the Land of Israel. Not me saying this, but these are H's Laws and He owns the world. Praying we all repent and merit the coming of Moshiach Tzdkeinu and may it be very soon.

Dear Bloc,
We DID stay away, for 2,000 years! The diaspora removed the Jews from the Land for that long; but it certainly did NOT enhance our safety! Just the opposite! When the Jews had no (physical) home, meaning a land of our own, our enemies could harm us even more and we had no means to fight back. We were so downtrodden we didn't believe, even ourselves, that we had the right to fight back. The return to Zion, and the founding of a State of Israel, has changed that; but only for those of us who embrace it. There's an ond expression: "ya can take the Jew out of the diaspora; but ya can't take the diaspora out of the Jew!" Maybe ya CAN take the diaspora out of the Jew; but it takes a long time and the Jew has to really wanna change...
