For Jerusalem's Hebrew-speaking Catholics, Jewish identity is cardinal
Maybe it was the pun.
No surprise, considering the newspaper's agenda, the article describes this Catholic Church in Jerusalem in which many of the members, and even the priest, were born Jewish. Some were raised as Jews, even religious and traditional and some of the older ones were saved from the Nazis in Catholic homes and institutions.
Yesterday it was still Passover. A week ago we celebrated the Seder and read from the Haggadah:
היינו עבדים לפרעה במצרים
Hayinu Avadim l'Paroh b'Mitzrayim
We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt
