"...the Israelis must have secure, recognized, and defensible borders. And the Palestinians must have a state that is viable, contiguous, sovereign, and independent."
It may be a nice "soundbite," but in reality look at the map it just doesn't work!
And just think about his words...
Bush wants the Arab state to be "sovereign, and independent" but not the Israeli one. By demanding that the Arabs have a contiguous state, Israel loses its contiguous status. Of course, without it, Israel most definitely won't have secure... and defensible borders. And don't forget to look at that "squiggle" of a border we'd have without Judea and Samaria, G-d forbid.
Bush and Rice don't want facts to get in the way of their dream, which is to establish a new Arab State, the 22nd but who's counting, in the heart of the Jewish Biblical Homeland.
During his visit, Israel was treated like a colony, not a sovereign and independent nation. The demands and restrictions made life in Israel's capital hell for its residents and those who work there.
- Bus routes were changed, and the new routes were not published.
- The Israel Museum was closed for the three days! It's a couple of miles from the hotel where he stayed.
- Jerusalem roads were closed, not only to vehicles, but also to pedestrians.
- Doctors and dentists had to close their clinics, as well as stores.
When questioned, the security forces admitted that there weren't any perceived threats to Bush's life, but they didn't want any demonstrations to disturb him and embarrass Olmert. Excuse me, but isn't that political repression?
I'll leave you with that "pleasant thought."

Unfortunately Israel has been a colony for a long time.
I was going to say "not that long" then I realized that it began after '67, so almost 40 years.
The effort being used to defend Olmert is incredible.
Frankly, the police should be ashamed of being used as tools in this political game. Can we blame them? They (and the public) have been brainwashed into believing that the police and the army are the operative arm of the government. Someone was arrested for wearing an American flag and a kafiyeh? Women were arrested for handing out flyers? Kids were beaten for walking on the street? Where are the leftist humanists?
Yes, we can blame them. They are 'merely following orders'. And frankly, we know that those who ignore the atrocities when others are involved, will eventually feel it on their skin as well.
I'll never forget after the terrorist attack when I was injured, and the police were told to try to prove that it was an "accident" that the Arab terrorist made a sharp turn onto the sidewalk and mowed down dozens of people, murdering one and injuring many others.
