TU beShvat in Hevron by Yonathan Gormezano

Bs”d
Beit HaShalom is a large building between Kiriat Arba and Hevron, which was recently bought by a Jewish philanthropist for a heavy sum, from an Arab. The Arab seller was immediately threatened to be killed by the ‘palestinian authority’, and as a result denied that the sale ever took place. Despite the fact that the sale was filmed on camera, and no evidence backs the former owner’s claim, Olmert’s evil government has given full backing to the Arab former owner, and is ever threatening to evict the 20 or so Jewish families who now live there.

I spent Tu’bShvat afternoon in Hevron, joining Nadia Matar ’s group in Beit HaShalom towards evening.

That was a great event, and we got a guided tour by one of the place’s inhabitants, followed by partaking from the fruit of the Land of Israel (dried fruit not from Turkey ) and seeing a nice film about the Outposts. Women in Green then gave a gift of scarves to the women of the Beit Hashalom.

…and finally I drove back to Petah Tikva in the thickest fog I have ever seen (they don’t make fog like this even in England), but with a great and assorted bunch of hitchhikers, with whom we spent the time talking about the Land of Israel, past struggles and what the future holds for us.

Blessings for the New Year (of the trees),
Yoni
Here are a few pictures…
