I Suggest That Ehud Barak Be Canned!

When I saw this headline, I thought that I had been hallucinating from dehydration:
Reuters/Blaire Gable
Barak Suggests Unilateral Disengagement in Judea, Samaria
Defense Minister Ehud Barak suggests Israel consider a unilateral disengagement in Judea and Samaria, similar to that carried out in Gaza.

Is he nuts or worse?
Israel should consider a unilateral withdrawal from the West Bank if negotiations with the Palestinians fail, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Wednesday.
Barak received support for his position from Amos Yadlin, the former head of Military Intelligence who now serves as director of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv. (complete article)

Not that I believe that true peace can be reached through, negotiations, but why would the Arabs bother negotiating if they could get more from Israel without even talking to us?

Hasn't the Israeli Government, IDF etc. learned anything since the dangerous situations they have created in the past?
  • fleeing from Southern Lebanon, aka Barak's folly, his campaign promise
  • Disengagement, Ariel Sharon's unilateral withdrawal from Gush Katif (and northern Shomron) which replaced successful Israeli agriculture with deadly missiles launched by Arab terrorists at Israeli civilians
  • Oslo Accords which furnished the Arab terrorists with guns as part of their "self-rule"
Defense Minister Barak is Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's chief confidante in the largest coalition in Israeli history.  Ninety-four (4) out of the one hundred and twenty Knesset Members are in that coalition. There isn't much of an opposition.  It's more farce than democratic, but it's legal.  Just because it's legal doesn't make it right.  In all honesty, I think it's awfully dangerous, like a legal dictatorship.

There is something very strange going on in the Israeli Government.
  • Who is in charge?
  • What are they thinking?
  • Are they thinking?
We only have one small piece of Land.  Why are our politicians trying to give it away?

I don't understand why BIBI hasn't muzzled and fired him. Who needs this clown?

My sentiments completely but I do not think he makes this statement without Bibi's knowledge. He is to Bibi what Olmert was to Sharon - official 'trial balloon flyer'...

No Bibi Netanyahu is not about to unilaterally do anything. He is simply stuck and dysfunctional when it comes to taking on the entire world. He is not sure that G-d would be with him if he did that. In so many ways he is like Shaul HaMelekh who constantly checked the pulse of what he should do with his own men. So Shaul lost the dynasty in Chapter 13 of Shmuel Aleph, and then he was sitting around with 600 troops in Migron, when his son, Yonatan (or Yehonatan elsewhere) decided to play the role of Mashiach ben Ephraim by taking on the entire Philistine garrison at Michmash. So here we are 3000 years later and Bibi or Shaul is again stuck in Migron, but boy oh boy is he building in Migron tachton (Lower Migron) near the Psagot Winery. We are all waiting for Yehonatan to show up so that King Shaul can finally have his tikkun after 3000 years. As far as the putz, Ehud Barak, he is gone within a week of the Euro's collapse. So let us pray that the Euro will collapse next week so that Barak is gone the following week. From what I can see, Bibi is building in Yesha. He is in no position to unilaterally disengage. After Red Haifa was punched around by HaShem in the summer of 5766, all such unilateral garbage on established yishuvim was in effect canceled forever. Just accept it. Barak is and has always been an Erev Rav putz. But he is about to lose his European paycheck. So goodbye putz.

They can try to give it away but G-d won't let them.

Fleeing the Arabs is not going to bring about peace.

Ehud Barak is a moron!

Miriam, Moriah may be right.
DBL, I still don't trust him.
Norman, Barak is dangerous

Batya, anyone that checks things out with the people around him without first relying on G-d is not to be trusted as a leader. King Shaul first lost his dynasty in Chapter 13 of Shmuel Aleph and then in Chapter 15 he lost his own lifetime of kingship. He was not fit to lead. That is pretty plain from Shmuel Aleph. Yet, Shaul was a Mashiach HaShem. So for whatever reason 3000 years later, G-d is not only giving him a 2nd chance, but this time somehow a Yehonatan will show up and show him how to take on the entire world by depending only upon G-d. Until then Bibi cannot be trusted even with certain parameters limiting how destructive he would otherwise be. Yet, being what is probably the gilgul of Shaul, he has tremendous spiritual potential. And, we have come a long way from the lowly ARMiLuT, Olmert. Bibi in no Olmert. He needs to learn some rudimentary lessons in bitachon. And I firmly believe that we are about to witness his learning process.

im a bibi fan in the sense that he is doing great things for the economy and for transportation, but i do not trust him.
eh, barak. let him talk. he is really powerless, and i suspect bibi knows it.
bibis closest advisors are american, often religious.

Dov, can we afford the mistakes? Yes, Bibi is a Shaul in some ways, but not in others. He's much more clever. Neither followed G-d.

a, Barak's words are dangerous. Barak is Bibi's closest advisor and now there's Mofaz, just as bad.

The only country in the world to embrace anti-Semitism as part of "goodwill gestures" to its enemies... is Israel.

When it handed back dead terrorists to the PA. The stupidity of Israeli politicians is legendary but every now and then they really outdo themselves like they did yesterday!

I wish it had been a bad Monty Python skit.

Only in Israel.

Norman, another unilateral move to make us look weak and dumb.
