The Two Most Serious Causes for Israel's Present Problems, Re: Amona Plus

During the Amona destruction/expulsion, Israeli television had to keep broadcasting news and had lots of government ministers and Knesset Members on. I caught two very disturbing statements which actually summarize the entire awful background/causes for our present depressing situation here.

Tzipi Hotovely By Arielinson -

First I heard Tzipi Hotovely, who when she first entered politics had been touted as the great "blue and white" hope, especially by people who knew her personally. But, like everyone else, she quickly became establishment Center. So, when I heard her on television saying that we couldn't build homes for Jews in Judea and Samaria when Obama was American President, because he didn't allow us to, as disgusted as I was with her words, I wasn't surprised.

I do have strong childhood memories of Alaska and Hawaii being added as the 49th and 50th states of the United States of America, but I'm pretty sure that the State of Israel isn't among the 50, nor the 51st state. So I just can't comprehend how she could say such an outrageous thing which in essence cancels/denies the independence of the State of Israel. Am I crazy or not? I left the United States to live in Israel in 1970, and although I am still an American Citizen, which means I have an American Passport to facilitate easy travel to see family there, I do not vote in American Elections nor take orders from American Presidents, whether Obama, Clinton, Carter or Trump. And I really can't understand how any self-respecting Israeli official can take orders from America!

MK Nachman Shai
The other upsetting thing I heard which also explains the second basic problem we have here in Israel was by the extreme Leftist, MK Nachman Shai. He claims that our law is according to the decisions of the Supreme Court. Now, I consider that since ordinary Israelis do not vote for the Justices, then according to democratic rule/principle they cannot be the rule/lawmakers. We vote for Members of Knesset via party lists. Not even the MKs get to choose who will sit on the Israeli Supreme Court, or any court if I'm not mistaken. Judges/Justices are chosen by a committee of other justices in a very undemocratic, far removed from the choice of the people, way.

Over the decades many Right wing politicians have claimed they would change the law, since the Leftist agenda is self-perpetuating in the so-called Justice branch of the Israeli Governmental system. There's a big basic problem, since the Supreme Court will simply veto any law it doesn't like.

So, until these two things are corrected, things will not get better here in Israel.

  • Israel must act as a truly independent country and not take orders from any other!
  • Israel must enact a system of "checks and balances" to guarantee that the Courts can't unilaterally overrule decisions of the Knesset and  Prime Minister. Two out of  three branches should be the decider, not the justices!

As for your first gripe, nobody considers Israel the 51st state... And therefore the US president doesn't have any official powers over Israel... Having said that, Israel is dependent on the US... It's where we buy many of our armaments and munitions... The US also runs interference for Israel in the UN... Without the US Israel's position in the UN would be completely untenable... BINDING resolutions FAR worse then UNSC 2334 would have been passed years ago... Russia and China have their own interests (which largely do not include Israel) and the UK and France have repeatedly shown that they're quite happy to throw Israel under the bus when it suits their other interests (which means practically always)... So, in that sense, the US does hold some sway over what Israel does or doesn't do...

As for your second gripe, I totally agree!... It's inconceivable that effectively Israeli democracy is subject to the whims of the non-elected high court!...

Shiloh, dangerously pathetic

Shtrudel, this weakens us much too much. It's like an addiction, and we must detox and wean ourselves to get stronger and truly independent. We have Gd, like we did in 1967 and the War of Independence. We were almost destroyed in 1973, because we trusted the USA.

As you said Batya, you have Gd.

Through Moses Gd said to Israel of old, “To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD Himself is Gd; there is none other besides Him.

I"m inclined to believe that when your nation feels "like a sparrow alone on the housetop" (Psalm 102) Gd "will arise and have mercy on Zion."

Please reflect on Psalm 102 and be encouraged.

At least Trump does say they are a Nation under God, and not afraid to say so.

Israel is dependent on the mothers you know what because it allows it to happen. We have developed better weapons systems than the US but we are shut off and forced to stop the development etc because we will get cut off from the US. People have to realize that the US state dept is NOT our friends and will do everything it can to destroy us. Please see www.hirhome.com and read the book by the late Prof Eugene Narrett, WW3, War on the Jews.

God is with us, we cannot see it, and it does not equate to religious observance. This is one issue we have to realize and it will be very uncomfortable for the Dati. Simple faith, nationalism will cure this mental illness we have here.

Here's a thought: Maybe, instead of having 3 weeks of mourning culminating in fasting this summer, we should have a summit on sovereignty for the entire period. It has to be serious and bring forth solutions to our dependencies and dysfunctions.

I go for the Nachshon way. If we take the initiative with confidence it will all work out.

Why does everyone seem to be so naive? Of course, Israel acts as they are beholden to the U.S., because they are. The world is under a leftist globalist power, even if not seen nor overt and that is why even Trump went in with good intentions but he will be stopped, sadly, every step of the way. There is only one answer for everything and that is the coming of Moshiach Tzdkeinu. The world is a mess.

Anyone who goes in to politics, even with the best of intentions, has to fail; it's a matter of losing their job or worse. Why do people put their faith and trust in man when he/she cannot really help; only H' can help and will help, if we (meaning all Jews) wake up and remember who we are.

Gd designed a two-pronged world. We must simultaneously work with the kodesh and chol. We are not in the World of the "angels."

Batya, correct. God sends the answer, we then have to decide. If the people want it, that Nachshon is waiting in the wings. So far, they have not decided.
