Official Prime Minister's statement

The fact that it was first denied by Olmert, whose checkered past is no secret, makes one wonder. Also, "The Road Map" is not in Israel's interest at all. Personally I don't consider it any better than "disengagement." For me, this statement is neither reassuring, nor comforting. All (most?) of Israel's withrawals and abandonments of Eretz Yisrael were supposed to be accompanied by Arab "peace steps."

STATEMENT FROM PM SHARON’S BUREAU
To:
gpo@pmo.gov.il

(Communicated by the Prime Minister’s Media
Adviser)
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s Bureau states that
Prime Minister Sharon is
not planning another unilateral move and that the
reports to this effect are
without any foundation. The Prime Minister’s
Bureau adds that the Prime
Minister’s position was, and remains, that
following the successful
implementation of the Disengagement Plan
(<http://tinyurl.com/43l87>), there
will be no diplomatic moves except in the context
of the Roadmap, if and
when the conditions for beginning its
implementation are fulfilled.
