Speaking at a meeting of his Yesh Atid party Monday, Lapid said that he had very clear ideas about Israel's relations with the PA, and that his views should not come as a surprise to anyone. “Whoever thinks that a diplomatic solution will not entail two states for two peoples is mistaken. Any idea of a bi-national state, whether on the left or the right, would mean the end of Zionism, and I am a Zionist,” Lapid said.I don't think that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu would accept it for himself too. Livni once was comfortably in the more Right wing Likud with Bibi. Only Shimon Peres isn't shy about calling himself Left.
With that, he added that “I do not plan on falling into the classic trap of the left, which at the beginning of negotiations reveals immediately what it plans to give away – a situation that turns what is supposed to be the end of the negotiation process into the beginning. You don't come to negotiations with just an olive branch in your hand,” Lapid added. “We are looking for a fair divorce from the Palestinians.”
The big problem with what all of them, Lapid, Livni, Peres and Netanyahu preach, whether they call themselves, Right, Left or Center is that it's all the same. They all believe two dangerous things can and should be done:
- negotiate with the Arabs for peace
- give the Arabs a state they'll call "Palestine"
True peace is not the result of negotiations. True peace is something that evolves when neither side aims to destroy the other one. It takes time. Whenever people claim that if we don't hurry we'll miss the "window of opportunity" they are not referring to true peace.

Yes, this is all great, but what do we do with the Arabs in Areas A and B? If we claim sovereignty over A and B, how do we avoid giving them citizenship?? When Yerushalayim was annexed, Arabs in the liberated parts of Yerushalayim were given citizenship. I think that the same thing was offered to Druzim and Alawites in the Golan. There is a serious problem with annexing Area B, for instance, without showing the Arabs that live there the door.
And don't get me wrong, a Nazi flag in an Area B village next to a mosque could be one reason to show a lot of Arabs the door. Also a family celebrating the martyrdom of their son murdering a Jews is another reason. We can come up with a lot of kosher reasons for showing a lot of these animals the door.
Dov, giving them sovereignty will only make them more dangerous and more powerful. That's the simple truth, like physics.
Citizenship must have conditions, and if they don't like it, they can leave. Citizenship or not; they must pay taxes and obey laws.
This is just a negotiating position to keep the Ba'al Kerry from spitting at us when he shows up on Thursday. No one is giving the Holocaust denier in Ramallah any sovereignty anytime soon. And Lapid's negotiating offer, which he is not even in charge of, is much more strict than Netanyahu's. No keys to the Holy City and no negotiations over Area C. He has wised up since his days as a reporter. I am sure he knows about the Nazi flag in Area B down near Chevron. Lapid is not a gadfly or sycophant for the Arab cause here. Everyone in this game except for Livni, the Witch of Eindor, knows that talking about talking is just for show, to let the stateless Arabs have their talking points. Sadly it is the game that we have to continue to play until Mashiach comes or until the collapse of Malkhut Edom/ Yishmael whichever comes first. We are very very close to World War in Syria. That will be a game-changer.
The sovereignty issue isn't new at all. Watch the video on the post of Caroline Glick speaking.
