Is Ramalla Safe for Bush's Visit?

hat tip IMRA

While innocent, harmless Israeli Jewish Jerusalemites are suffering severe restrictions in their movements, even on the streets where they live, during Bush's visit, it doesn't seem that Arab Ramalla has been forced to take such steps.

Strange, considering that Bush is not popular among the Arabs, according to the Arab media.

Due to the visit to Ramalla, our road to Jerusalem will be closed most of the day. The Jews of Beit El will be held captive in their village, since they have only one road in or out, and that's the road that Bush is taking. It would be much more polite to have Bush travel to Ramalla by helicopter.

The American security have demanded that any road he may travel on be cleaned of all other vehicles for hours, before and after.

They're not interested in the safest way to travel. No frills, no fuss, no flags, no sirens. Just in the back of an ordinary car, which nobody would notice. Men don't like that idea. "Low tech" just doesn't go with the male mentality. I can say something a little more graphic, but what's the point? Women know what I mean, and men will just get angry.

I wish I had known about this beforehand. I would have kept my oldest, who learns in Beit El, home today.

I guess you haven't been in the loop. Between blogging and the ytmb teachers room, I've been dreading the visit for more than political reasons.

They even closed the Israel Museum for three days, not even letting clerical staff in to catch up on work.

If Israelis had guts, Israel would not be a safe place for Bush to visit.

Isn't Bush lucky?
