How Can The Kids Learn Respect?

I grew up in America, in the 1950's, a very calm, optimistic, even boring time. It was pretty easy to teach us to respect authority, because in most places authority was benign.

Today's Israeli teens, especially those who try to follow the Torah, Jewish Law, see a very different government, military establishment.

Kids see things in black and white, and it looks very black.

The Israeli Government treats those who promote Jewish Rights in Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel, as enemies.

The government and military use force they wouldn't dare use against Arabs. The Israeli Judicial isn't interested in promoting even equal rights for Jews.

How can the kids learn respect when the government treats them as enemies?

If Jews Can't Live In Hebron, Then The Entire Country Is In Danger

First, here's the report from Hebron:

Contrarily to what the media report, the expulsion from Bet HaShalom was very violent and MANY were wounded.
The Special Forces were specifically searching for Daniella Weiss and Nadia Matar to beat them.
Nadia was beaten and was taken to hospital
Reliable sources have informed that the Chevron police are planning to raid the homes of the leaders of the struggle tonight in order to arrest them and send them away from Yesha.

Bet HaShalom was purchased by Jews. Why should that be unrecognized by the Israeli Government? Deja vu, it's like during the British Mandate. The Israeli Government is encouraging our enemies. This is extremely dangerous for the continued existence of the State of Israel.

One of the biggest aims of the Arabs is to get back their former property. And yes, some of the Arabs who fled during the War for Independence did own property in what became the State of Israel. That property was in cities like Jerusalem and Haifa and in the countryside. It was not in Shiloh, Yitzhar, Tekoa and other YESHA communities. From 1948-67 Jews weren't permitted in Shiloh, Yitzhar, Tekoa and other YESHA communities by order of Jordan. Arabs didn't live in those place and weren't interested in living there. Jews couldn't even visit the Kotel, the western wall.

Actually, many Jews lost control of their property in places like the Old City of Jerusalem and Hebron, since the Jordanians wouldn't permit Jews to live there.

To repeat one of my favorite sayings, "You can't be a little bit pregnant." Since the Israeli Government is forcing Jews out of Jewish-owned buildings in Hebron, it's showing our enemies that the government doesn't care about Jewish land ownership. The people of Ramat Aviv should be worried. There was once an Arab village there...

Oi Olmert

Lame Duck Olmert still doesn't get it. He still plans on transferring tens of thousands of Jews, destroying Jewish homes, communities, towns, businesses, schools etc. He wants to banish us to the Negev desert which has been targeted by Arab terrorists, who have been launching rockets and missiles at it.

The only person who should be packing is Olmert, himself. Israeli elections will be in just over two months, and Olmert is definitely on his way out. The big question is where will he be going, since there are all sorts of corruption charges against him.

In the end, Olmert will be remembered as the most scandal-ridden Prime Minister in Israel's History. He should stop his speech-making and slink off with a little dignity. But I don't think he's capable of understanding that. Olmert is seriously endangering Israel by his last minute policies and statements. At this point, he probably doesn't even care.

Why hasn't Mazuz indicted him already? There must be something very peculiar in Mazuz's background.

Protest-- Prayer Vigil

Tonight, as I got to the Shiloh Junction, I became concerned. There were quite a number of people, and they weren't there to compete with me for rides home.

I asked the person who seemed to be in charge what was happening:

"We're about to doven Arvit, pray the evening prayer. Women section is over there."

Because of the threatened violence of the government against Jewish rights to live in a Jewish-purchased building, Beit Hashalom, Peace House, in Hebron, neighbors felt it necessary to protest. Our rabbi insisted that the protest must be non-violent and have religious value. That's why the evening prayers were at the junction.

Many people on their way home parked their cars and joined the prayers.

News From Hebron?

Sorry, my contact hasn't called. I wonder if there's a news blackout, since I can't find anything about what transpired last night.

The only news is that Elyasaf ben Nurit isn't doing well. He was injured yesterday when Arabs threw a heavy object at him and hit him square in the head.

He suffered a crushed skull, when a heavy object was hurled from the Arab Mayor of Hebron's Building. He was taken by ambulance to a helicopter and then flown to the Emergency Ward.

Update: FROM HEBRON

I just got a call. If I heard right, this is the situation now, just before 2pm:

The Jewish kids who came in to demonstrate, and support Jewish rights in Hebron, managed to get hold of something very heavy and battered down the gate of the Arab Mayor's home/office/compound.

There's a major little battle going on. The Jewish kids are being attacked by the Arabs who are throwing large rocks, bricks, etc. Kids have been injured. At least one seriously. Ambulances are trying to evacuate the wounded.

The army and border police are trying to stop it all, using tear gas and stun grenades.

Jerusalem's Lightrail's Heavy Traffic

There's the old saying that "a picture is worth a thousand words." So, if that's the case, a moving picture must be worth a lot more.

I think that these two short little movies I took a few days ago in Jerusalem, Jaffa Street, Machane Yehuda Market, should give you a better idea of the horrendous state of the roads and traffic since Ehud Olmert's lightrail has been under construction. Yes, it's another thing to blame on Olmert. He was the Mayor of Jerusalem when this monstrosity was planned. He was the Mayor of Jerusalem when the contracts were signed. Enough words, watch the shows.

I didn't expect this.

A couple of minutes ago, after dinner and after washing the dishes, I returned to the computer to read the news. My husband had left the Ha'aretz English newspaper on the screen. And no, in this case Ha'aretz isn't the guilty party. I saw that there was an article saying that Rebbitzin Rivka Holtzberg, HaYa"D's parents are thinking of taking up their dead daughter's post in Mumbai.

Apparently the information was given by Rabbi Yitzchak David Grossman's fundraiser, Robert Katz. Rabbi Grossman was Rivka Holtzberg's uncle and he is the founder of the Migdal Ohr in Migdal Haemek.

Katz then said: "This couple wasn't living in the West Bank. They weren't settlers. They weren't occupying anyone's land. They were killed because they were Jews, simple and plain." (emphasis mine)

Yes, I felt sick when I read that, and I don't have to pretend otherwise.

Thirteen years ago, I survived an Arab terror attack with light injuries. Our Shiloh Cemetery has many victims of Arab terror attacks, mostly teenagers.

Terror attacks are a very sensitive subject with me.

Robert Katz emailed me explaining that he hadn't meant what he said. He was being "sarcastic."

Obviously, he had never read my instructions for dealing with the media. Sarcasm is the big "no, no." My lawyer daughter says that she learned a lot from the movie, "My Cousin Vinnie," which is about the importance of punctuation and avoiding sarcasm.

I wish Mr. Katz the best of luck and apologize for writing badly of him.

America Goofs, Too!

Jeruselmites and those who must visit Jerusalem for various reasons are suffering from the lightrail. Over fifty years after the last New York City trolley car deserted its tracks in Brooklyn, tracks are being laid on the streets of the Holiest City in Judaism, Jerusalem.

Many people, including the newly elected Mayor, Nir Barkat, consider it a horrendous mistake, Olmert's tracky elephant.

I don't know if this is a comfort, but in New Jersey, USA, they built a commuter train station sans parking lot. Ordianry commuters can't use it, since they aren't chaufered to the station. In the 1950's and maybe still in the '60's most families only had one car, so the stay at home wife would drop her husband off at the station , use the car for her errands and then pick up her husband on his return. Nowadays, either there's no spouse, or they drive to the station to travel together on the train or each take their own car to whereever.

I Guess That Bush Isn't all That Dumb
